'Daebak Show': Stray Kids Bang Chan Says He Thought of Quitting to Become K-pop Idol

On Oct. 11, Eric Nam's "Daebak Show" kicked off its second season with its first episode featuring Stray Kids members Bang Chan and Felix as guests.

The program began with a "Mindset Check-in," wherein the two 4th-gen K-pop idols answered three questions: (1) "How are you today? "What emoji would you use to describe your mood today?," (2) "What three things are you grateful for today?" and (3) What slogan or phrase are you living by these days?"

Following that, they proceeded to the second part of the show, which is named "Daebak Restaurant." In this section, host Eric Nam and the two Stray Kids members enjoyed a game called "Do you know ssam?."

The game involved the "MANIAC" singers answering several questions about their pre-debut days, new album "MAXIDENT," and more. And for each question, the three of them will make ssam and dip it in 10 different types of sauces.

The first question was about the cities in Australia that they come from. Stray Kids Felix answered that he and Bang Chan are both from Sydney.

The "Daebak Show" host then asked what songs they performed during their audition for JYP Entertainment. Felix revealed that he didn't sing but only did a freestyle dance, shocking Bang Chan, who later stated that he sang Bruno Mars' "Just the Way You Are."

Next, Eric Nam asked the two if they ever wanted to quit [as a trainee]. While Felix firmly said "No," Bang Chan answered, "Of course."

Stray Kids Bang Chan revealed that one of the reasons was the part where he saw people come and go, which was the hardest part for him during training.

He detailed:

"Like you get close to people but then they end up making their debut. They end up debuting before I do. Well, there was one time [when] besides me, everyone got cut. And I was like, 'Wow, what is happening here?' and then I fell into a really deep depression.

No, I won't say it's depression but I was like I'm not confused, I'm not going to be friends with anyone [anymore]. I do not want to experience this pain again. I'm not gonna be frozen."

Bang Chan further said that this is the reason why he was always "so dark" and seemed "scary" to his fellow trainees.
