Stray Kids Expected to Become First Act to Reach THIS Feat on Billboard 200 With 'MAXIDENT'

On Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. KST, Stray Kids returned with their highly-anticipated album "MAXIDENT," which contains the title song "CASE 143" and b-side songs, "Cool," "Give ME Your TMI," "SUPER BOARD," and more.

"CASE 143" is the group's first title track to have a theme of love and compare the complex emotions of love to a case. Their producing unit 3RACHA, comprising members Bang Chan, Han, and Changbin, wrote the lyrics and took part in the composition for the song.

By the end of the day on the 7th, Stray Kids' "MAXIDENT" sold a whopping 1.3 million copies on the Hanteo Chart, a total of 1,308,971 units to be exact. The eight-piece boy group not only broke their personal record for first-day sales, but they also became one of the only four artists in Hanteo history who have managed to achieve one million sales on the first day, following BTS, SEVENTEEN, and BLACKPINK.

"MAXIDENT" is also doing particularly well in the United States in terms of album sales. As of Oct. 9, the album had already earned 95K-110K units, according to Hits Daily Double (via Chart Data). This figure will lead the South Korean boy group to No. 1 debut on Billboard 200 next week.

Traditional album sales will comprise a large portion of the sum, with units from track sales and track streams rounding out the total. The mini-album is expected to claim first place for both album sales and total units in the week of Oct. 7 and 13.

On Oct. 12, Stray Kids' "MAXIDENT" went on to hit 114,000 units (107,000 from album sales), which would surpass the total sales of their previous album. "ODDINARY" debuted at No. 1 with 110,000 units this past March (103,000 in album sales- the biggest sales week for an album in 2022- 7,000 in streaming and tracks).
