SM Halloween Party 2022 'SMTOWN Wonderland' Reportedly Taking Place on THIS Date

Every year, SM Entertainment holds its iconic SMTOWN Wonderland Halloween party, where the company's artists dress up like characters from movies, animes, and more. It has become a highly-anticipated event as fans get excited about the costumes of the idols.

Now, according to a report released by SPOTV News on Oct. 13, SM Halloween Party 2022 will take place at the end of this month, which could probably mean any date in the last week of October.

Additionally, the media outlet stated that this year's SMTOWN Wonderland will be held in person for the first time in four years since 2018.

SM Entertainment chose not to hold the party in 2019 and 2020 due to various circumstances such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The event then returned in 2021 in the form of a non-face-to-face contest.

As this year's event will take place face-to-face after a long time, anticipation as to what kind of shocking transformation the SM artists will show up in is expected to increase.

In fact, K-netizens have recently listed some Halloween costume ideas they would like to see the idols try. Among them are Meiling Li from "Cardcaptor Sakura," Toge Inumaki from "Jujutsu Kaisen," Katniss Everdeen from "Hunger Games," Leon Kennedy from "Resident Evil," and many more.

SM Entertainment's annual Halloween party started as a small, private event for the agency's artists and staff in 2012. But the event soon attracted public's attention as the idols showcased their most creative, over-the-top costumes for a chance to win the costume contest. Artists who win the "Best Dresser" award have the honor of making a meaningful donation to a certain charity in their name.

As of press time, SM Entertainment has not responded to the news regarding the label's halloween party this year.

Recap of SMTOWN Wonderland 2021 Winners

Last year, SM Entertainment's annual Halloween party, SMTOWN Wonderland, was held on Oct. 29, and artists who attended the event wowed fans and netizens with jaw-dropping costumes.

Out of the many idols who participated, only eight of them were declared the winners. NCT Ten and Red Velvet Yeri, in particular, both earned Bronze. Ten was dressed up as Ciel Phantomhive, while Yeri was Shin Chae Kyung from "Princess Hours."

NCT Taeyong and Jungwoo, who were dressed as Edward and Bella from the movie "Twilight," respectively, took home the Silver award.

The Gold award was given to aespa Giselle, who cosplayed Harley Quinn, an iconic character from the DC comic book universe.

Super Junior Shindong received the Platinum award for his costume as Younghee, the doll from "Squid Game," while NCT Chenle got the Diamond award for his scary and impressive costume: the nun from the movie "The Nun."

Finally, the top prize (Master) was awarded to SHINee Onew, who was dressed up as The Penguin.

All winners donated their prize money to The Beautiful Foundation to support expenses needed by youth transitioning out of foster care.
