About Former 'YG Treasure Box' Contestant Yun Si Yun

Yun Si Yun was born on Jan. 8, 2005 in Seoul, South Korea. Before training to become a K-pop idol, he was a child actor.

It's unsure when he started training under YG Entertainment, but he was first introduced through "YG Treasure Box," which ran from November 2018 to January 2019. He was only 13 years old at that time (by international reckoning).

During his time on "YG Treasure Box," Yun Si Yun was part of Group C, along with Kim Yeon Kyu, Park Jeong Woo, Lee In Hong, Jung Joon Hyuk, So Jung Hwan, and Kim Jong Sub.

Unfortunately, he was eliminated in the show's eighth episode and was unable to move on to the next round of the competition. At that time, he performed iKON's "My Type" along with Yoon Jae Hyuk. However, the latter trainee was chosen as the winner for that round.

Following the conclusion of "YG Treasure Box," YG Entertainment posted a video of Si Yun writing a letter to the fans rooting for him on YouTube. In his letter, he said:

"Hello, I'm your sweet guy Si Yun. Thank you for your support and love! I'll continue to work hard to give pretty and awesome performances. Please look forward to it! Thank you."

Like most YG trainees who competed in "YG Treasure Box," he also left the company. It is believed that he departed in early 2019.

Then, in July 2019, it was discovered that Yun is a student at Def Dance School, a popular dance school in South Korea. Many K-pop stars became students in this school before debuting as idols. But aside from dance, the school also offers classes in singing, rap, recording, and some instruments.

At that time, Def Dance School revealed that he passed the audition for WM Entertainment as a trainee. He naturally became a member of the agency's trainee group called WM Ggumnamu.

Could Si Yun still be under WM Entertainment (which houses artists such as Oh My Girl, ONF, Lee Chae Yeon, among others)?

On Sept. 14, Def Dance School announced on their official Instagram account that Yun Si Yun is a trainee under a new agency. He was accepted to train at FNC Entertainment. As per their post, he passed an audition that was held at the Def Practical Music Academy.

According to the school's website, his face was hidden due to the circumstances of the agency. The identity of any student who passes an audition for a certain company is kept secret.

For starters, FNC Entertainment houses popular K-pop groups like F.T. Island, CNBLUE, AOA, N.Flying, SF9, and more.
