Stray Kids First-Ever Artist in the World To Do THIS on Billboard

The four-year-old stalwart, Stray Kids, from JYP Entertainment has again shown a room in the local and international music scene as they punched another record in Billboard 200.

On October 16, Billboard's Official Twitter account announced that Stray Kids' latest mini album, "MAXIDENT," has scored at No. 1 on the reputable Top 200 Albums chart. In this chart, albums are mapped based on their popularity in the United States.

The reflexive ranking in Billboard 200 is handled, managed, and complied with by Luminate, according to the "multi-metric consumption" gauged on different album units. The album units consist of sales of the album-track equivalent albums and stream equivalent albums.

Based on the released report by Luminate, Stray Kids' MAXIDENT has recorded 117,000 equivalent album units, which could be broken down in observance of 110,000 album sales and 7,000 streaming equivalent album units.

Stray Kids Is First-Ever Artist in the World To Debut 2 Albums At No. 1 on Billboard 200 This 2022

Notching this record with the latest eight-track album made Stray Kids the first-ever artist to rank two different albums at No. 1 on Billboard 200 for 2022!

In April 2022, the octet boy group scored their first-ever chart-topper with ODDINARY.

With this milestone, Stray Kids joined Taylor Swift, achieving the record in 2021 with "Fearless" (Taylor's Version) and "Evermore."

According to previous reviews and reports, Stray Kids is the only K-pop act to enter the prestigious top spot of the Billboard 200 more than once, following in the footsteps of BTS.

MAXIDENT joins BLACKPINKS's BORN PINK, BTS' Proof, and ODDINARY as the only K-pop albums to hold the throne in Billboard 200 this year.

Revisiting the timeline, in the year 2021, no K-pop act debuted in the top spot of Billboard 200, while in the year 2020, only BTS achieved such recognition.

After this groundbreaking momentum, MAXIDENT, a Korean-based album, was heralded as the 16th mostly non-English language album to hit the top spot.

According to fan discussions, this achievement is essential as Stray Kids campaign to chart a song on Billboard Hot 100.

On the other hand, ODDINARY's title track, Maniac, hit Nos. 21 and 15 in the chart.

What's Next for Stray Kids?

As Stray Kids bags record after record, the boy group has an ongoing concert tour entitled "MANIAC", which would feature songs under Oddinary, Circus, and Maxident.

The concert chronology commenced in South Korea last April 29, 2022, and extended to major cities in Japan, the United States of America, and the Asia Pacific.

MANIAC tour shall extend until March 2023 and be updated depending on JYP Entertainment's announcement.

With this honorable list under Stray Kids' name, the boys are proving their talents and music capabilities, which is a building block in introducing K-pop in the international arena. Congratulations, Stray Kids!
