NewJeans' Comeback Date Revealed + Group to Drop Pre-Release Song

Back on Oct. 18, Korean media outlet SPOTV News reported that NewJeans will make a comeback with a new album in early December.

Later that day, ADOR responded to the news by saying, "We will make an announcement once NewJeans' comeback schedule has been set in stone."

Now, the company has officially revealed when the rookie girl group will return to the music scene.

On Nov. 10, ADOR took to its official Twitter account and the group's official fan community, Phoning, to announce that NewJeans will release a single album called "OMG" on Jan. 2, 2023. The single album will contain songs that were also candidates for NewJeans' debut album, plus a winter song for fans.

Ahead of the album release, NewJeans has a winter treat for Bunnies (NewJeans' fan club). The rookie group will drop a pre-release song on Dec. 19, which will later be included in their upcoming album as a B-side track.

Min Hee Jin, CEO and general producer of ADOR, said, "If the debut album showed NewJeans' summer, this single album will showcase NewJeans' winter."

With their debut album "New Jeans" released in August, NewJeans has emerged as a new artist who is attracting attention not only in Korea but also in the overseas music market. Within three months of their debut, they obtained several milestones.

In particular, they became the first girl group to take first and second places on MelOn's Top 100 chart with their debut songs "Attention" and "Hype Boy." They also became the first K-pop girl group to land in the U.S. Spotify Daily Chart with a debut song ("Attention") right after their launch.

What's more, NewJeans' "Hype Boy" has become the fastest K-pop group debut song to accumulate 100 million streams on Spotify. The same song has also now charted for 13 weeks on Billboard Global 200.

Furthermore, the quintet took home the "Next Leader" award from the 2022 The Fact Music Awards.

NewJeans to Perform at 2022 MAMA Awards

In other news, the 2022 MAMA Awards announced on Nov. 9 that NewJeans is one of the performing artists at the upcoming award ceremony, which will be held later this month.

In particular, the rookie girl group is one of the performers on Day 2 (Nov. 30), along with Zico, Lim Young Woong, ITZY, (G)I-DLE, IVE, ENHYPEN, TREASURE, NiziU, and INI.

NewJeans is also nominated in different categories for the event. They are running for Best New Female Artist, Best Dance Performance Female Group ("Attention"), Song of the Year ("Attention"), Artist of the Year, and Worldwide Fans' Choice Top 10.

The 2022 MAMA Awards will take place over the course of two nights at Osaka's Kyocera Dome in Japan from Nov. 29 to 30.
