IVE Delivers Live Stage During Blue Dragon Film Awards– Why Did It Earn Mixed Reactions?

On the afternoon of November 25, the 43rd Blue Dragon Film Awards ceremony was held at KBS Hall in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by star-studded actors and actresses such as Jung Woo Sung, Lee Byung Hun, Kim Hye Soo, Yoo Yeon Seok, IU, SNSD YoonA, Go Kyung Pyo, Ong Seong Wu and more.

To spice up the event, Blue Dragon Film Awards also invited top-tier K-pop artists such as Zico, La Poem, IVE and NewJeans.

In the first part, "Popular Fourth-Gen Girl Groups" NewsJeans and IVE appeared and performed live. NewJeans performed "Hype Boy" and "Attention," while the latter showcased "Love Dive" and "After LIKE."

In particular, singers and actors YoonA and IU happily watched the stage, while Kim Shin Young, Go Kyung Pyo, and Seo In Guk sat side by side and enjoyed the celebratory stage, drawing attention.

Following their performance, IVE immediately took the internet by storm with their performance, gaining divided reactions from viewers and fans.

International fans praised the group for performing live and for finishing the song without many mistakes despite singing while dancing to their fast-paced choreographies. Their bright and dynamic expressions on top of their vibrant visuals while performing also captured the hearts of those who watched them.

On the flip side, there are netters who confessed that they don't feel satisfied with IVE's performance. Some internet users emphasized that the sound system is bad, and the unstable heavy breathing of some of the members while singing didn't help.

IVE LIZ & Rei Praised For Stable Vocals

Amid the criticism the group received for their said "unstable" live performance, there are two members who earned rave reviews for their stable and outstanding singing skills.

According to K-pop enthusiasts and web users, among IVE, Liz stood out best in terms of vocals. She was also applauded for her smooth dance skills.

• "Liz is so underrated."
• "Liz carried the whole performance. No offense, IVE can all sing, but only Liz can be described as a 'real' singer."
• "Liz's vocals are chef's kiss. It's a bit pitiful she doesn't have that many lines."
• "Liz's vocals are so satisfying."

Along with Liz, Rei also earned the attention of viewers, who praised her for her stable vocals.

• "Rei started as a rapper, but she sings better than other idols."
• "Rei's vocals deserve to be complimented."
• "Rei seriously rocked this performance, so stable."

In terms of performance, Gaeul and Yujin were also praised for slaying both songs with their dance skills, visuals and stage presence.

Among members, Jang Wonyoung and Leeseo received the most divided reaction for their stage from K-Netz. While a lot said that the two did so well, some think that they can do better than what they showcased.
