Where Is Lovelyz Sujeong Now? Update on Idol After Leaving Woollim Entertainment

Seven years after their debut, seven of eight Lovelyz members decided to leave Woollim Entertainment- one of those is Ryu Sujeong. It has been a year since then, so let's find out where Sujeong is at present.

Who Is Lovelyz Sujeong?

Ryu Sujeong is a South Korean singer who rose to fame after debuting as a member of Woollim Entertainment's then-girl group Lovelyz back in 2014. She is one of the vocalists of the group.

Following her debut, she made a few TV appearances. She guested on "Idol Drama Operation Team," "Neighborhood Album," and "Two Yoo Project - Sugar Man."

On Nov. 16, 2021 Lovelyz Sujeong officially left Woollim Entertainment following the expiration of her exclusive contract, along with all of her members, except Baby Soul. Their departure came after their hiatus for more than a year since their seventh EP "Unforgettable" was released in September 2020.

Why Did Lovelyz Leave Woollim Entertainment?

On Nov. 1, Woollim Entertainment announced that the exclusive contracts of Lovelyz members will expire on Nov. 16. The company explained that after a long and deep discussion, seven members have decided to part ways with the agency and prepare for new beginnings.

On the same day, all Lovelyz members posted a handwritten letter to fans. In Ryu Sujeong's letter, she first reminisced about the time she first stood on stage and the day their fans were collectively named Lovelinus.

She also thanked the Woollim family and Lovelinus and said that "Lovelyz is a dream in itself." She also expressed her hope that Lovelyz would get to meet fans once again as a group.

Did Lovelyz Disband?

While Woollim Entertainment revealed that the members will go their separate ways, they didn't mention whether the group would disband or not.

In April this year, Hankook Ilbo reported that although the members did not renew their contracts, it doesn't mean Lovelyz has disbanded. The media outlet added that according to Baby Soul, the members are still willing to release albums, hold concerts, and promote together in the near future. Hence, this could mean that the group is only in an indefinite hiatus.
