On December 19, SMTOWN's official YouTube channel released the behind-the-scenes video during the making of the "Beautiful Christmas" MV.
In particular, Red Velvet and aespa joined forces to drop a winter track, "Beautiful Christmas," depicting a festive spirit this holiday wherein the members of both groups express their delight and excitement to celebrate the special day by decorating trees and exchanging gifts.

Amid the behind-the-scenes footage revealing the unexpected friendship between aespa and Red Velvet, Karina and Winter confessed a huge revelation!
Contrary to the assumption that the two girl groups have been friends since forever, they weren't actually close until the collab happened!
The two aespa members confessed:
"Through this shoot, (we've) got to talk to Red Velvet for the first time. It was fun."
What they said next surprised viewers, saying:
"We aren’t actually close with any artists who are our seniors (including Red Velvet). I think we got pretty close with (Red Velvet) on this occasion.”
The senior idols also expressed their desire to take care of their juniors, with Yeri promising to treat aespa to a meal, as per NingNing.
"We are going to visit her home, next time."
In the past, a rumor circulated that Red Velvet and aespa were not fond of each other, despite often seeing each other on music shows, festivals and ceremonies.

But it seems like both of the groups were just waiting for an opportunity where they could finally interact. After all, aespa is a team who debuted during COVID-19, limiting their interactions with other artists before due to social distancing.

Meanwhile, Red Velvet and aespa released their collaboration song "Beautiful Christmas" on the 14th, the title and pre-released track of "2022 Winter SMTOWN: SMCU Palace."
In particular, this is a winter album that SM has released every season, which conveys the listeners' excitement of Christmas by combining the content that today is the best moment together with a precious person.
Ahead of the release, SM Entertainment also announced the special collaboration that should be anticipated by Pink Bloods (SM artists fans).
