BLACKPINK Confirmed As The First Korean Act To Headline Coachella

On January 10, the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival announced its list of performers! The lineup consists of famous musicians around the world, as well as BLACKPINK.

BLACKPINK wasn't only included as one of the acts, but also achieved an amazing feat!

The "Kill This Love" hitmakers were included as headliner, making them the first K-pop act to attain such accomplishment.

In the list, BLACKPINK is joined by fellow headliners Bad Bunny and Frank Ocean.

With BLACKPINK making a second Coachella appearance, BLINKs are focused on the girls not only because of their scheduled performance, but also for making another historical achievement.

BLACKPINK Makes History As First K-pop Act To Perform in Coachella 2019

In other news, BLACKPINK made waves on April 12, 2019, where they performed in the music festival. Even though they were invited as a sub-headliner, BLACKPINK managed to steal BLINKs' attention through the show.

On April 16, BLACKPINK's full Coachella 2019 performance video was uploaded on YouTube. Their agency, YG Entertainment, also posted a caption stating this will be BLACKPINK's first time to perform in Coachella,

"This was the first K-pop girl group performance in Coachella and one of the best performances in BLACKPINK's legendary stage. 

It was the moment when BLACKPINK was invited as a sub-headliner and was on par with prominent musicians such as Childish Gambino and Ariana Grande"

BLACKPINK kickstarted the show with their 2018 chart-breaker "DDU-DU-DDU-DU." Their full performance lasted almost an hour, which thrilled BLINKs at the festival.

BLACKPINK also lit up the stage with hit songs "BOOMBAYAH" and "Kill This Love."

Other standout songs from their 1-hour set were "FOREVER YOUNG," "WHISTLE," "STAY," "SEE U LATER," "PLAYING WITH FIRE," and "AS IF IT'S YOUR LAST."

The audience's loud cheers stormed the performance, despite BLACKPINK's first time in the festival.

Furthermore, Coachella was able to attract viewers from all around the world with their anticipated documentary, "Coachella: 20 Years In The Desert," which documented the whole event.

In the documentary, BLACKPINK was featured, showcasing the group's performances, highlights, and interactions with fellow Coachella performers.

Additionally, BLACKPINK was interviewed on the festival since they're the first K-pop act to attend. BLACKPINK member Jennie stated they were all shocked with the audiences' reactions.

"We thought no one would know our music, but everyone started shouting, 'BLACKPINK IN YOUR AREA. That's just blowing our minds."
