How Does SM Dispute Affect Its Artists? SHINee Key Mentions Recent Status

On February 13, SHINee Key dropped his second full-length repackage album, "Killer," with the title track of the same name. Ahead of its release, the male idol held a countdown live on YouTube and SHINee TikTok channels to communicate with Shawols (fans) and talk about his latest album.

On this day, Key took time to answer questions from fans in real-time. He recalled the face-to-face concert he did for the first time in October last year, in which he met fans in person in about three years and eight months as a soloist.

With this, fans expressed their desire to see Key once again in an encore concert after four months. Key agreed and stated that he is also hoping to do it; however, he hinted at the internal situation of his agency, SM Entertainment.

"I don't know who to talk to for the encore concert. Where should I tell them to hold it? I also want to do it more than anyone else..."

As he blurted out these words at the end of his sentence, Key sighed loudly and said:

"Yeah, I don't know."

Just then, he indirectly mentioned the chaotic situation of his agency and stated:

"The company is in a state of confusion."

SM Entertainment, one of the representative K-pop agencies, is currently in turmoil following infighting between founder Lee Soo Man, CEOs Chris Lee and Tak Young Joon as well as boards, producers, artists and staff.

SHINee Key Is the 'Killer' In His 2nd Full-Length Repackage Album

On the other hand, SHINee Key released his new album, "Killer," on the 13th and launch a global fan sentiment "All-kill."

On the same day, the music video for the same name title track was uploaded on SMTOWN's official YouTube channel, amassing 1.5 million views in about 15 hours since its release.

"Killer" is continuously earning attention from various music-streaming platforms as well for its up-tempo dance genre song with impressive retro sounds based on new waves and synth-pop in the 80s.

In addition, the track sets a dark mood with signature synthesizers, rhythmical drum lines and various FX sounds.

In particular, SHINee Key's new song contains the regrets and pain that cannot forget the other person after saying a cruel goodbye to the lyrics.

The music video also captures the eyes of the character who showed a cold back to the lover as a "killer," someone who breaks the relationship.
