BTS Suga Donates To Turkey-Syria Earthquake Victims on His Birthday

BTS Suga Gives Profound Birthday Donation To Earthquake Relief Efforts in Turkey, Syria

On March 9, non-governmental organization (NGO) Save the Children announced that BTS member Suga has made a generous donation to Turkey-Syria earthquake victims.

Notably, March 9 is also the rapper's birthday. Save the Children revealed that Suga has donated a total of 100 million won, which is equivalent to $75,900 USD. The donation would go to the relief efforts in aiding the earthquake victims and help them towards recovery.

They stated:

"Suga, a member of BTS, has donated 100 million won for emergency relief in Turkey and Syria following its devastating earthquake damage."

Suga shared his thoughts regarding his donation. He expressed sympathy over the survivors who were affected by the calamity, and sent his condolences to victims. Suga also hoped that his donation would be able to aid children who suffered because of the disaster and help them recuperate.

With the donation in hand, Save the Children will make use of Suga's contribution to fund relief materials. These include items such as school supplies, winter blankets, mattresses and other essentials that are important in the stricken areas.

"Many people, families, and children have suffered a great deal of damage from this disaster. I send my condolences to those who were affected by the earthquakes. I hope this donation will be of help to children who experienced this unfortunate occurrence, and be utilized to provide relief goods."

On February 6, Turkey and Syria was met by two overwhelming earthquakes (7.8 and 7.5 magnitudes) on the spot. It was followed by two additional waves (6.4 and 5.6 magnitudes) on February 20 and 27.

In the first wave (February 6), BTS's label, HYBE donated 500 million KRW ($388,900 USD) to Save the Children. Meanwhile, members J-Hope and Jimin made generous donations of 100 million each to UNICEF, via the Korean Committee.

Reviewing Through BTS Suga's Other Donations

This isn't the first time Suga has made donations. Suga has also donated to wildfire victims on his previous birthday on March 9, 2022.

He also donated to pediatric cancer patients on March 11, 2021 and a 100 million won for COVID-19 prevention efforts.

On March 9, 2018, Suga had also sent gifts of Korean beef to 39 orphanages under ARMY's name, keeping his promise to fans on a 2014 fan signing event.

A source from BigHit stated:

"Suga made the donation in the name of ARMY instead of his own to show his appreciation to his supporters as he couldn't hold a party to eat meat with them."
