'Comeback Battle': aespa, NMIXX, More 4th-Gen K-pop Girl Groups To Anticipate

It's yet another comeback season, and your favorite 4th-generation K-pop girl groups are set to return to the music scene! From NMIXX to LE SSERAFIM and more, here are the 5 female groups you should anticipate!

1. NMIXX

JYP Entertainment rookie NMIXX released their first mini-album, "expérgo," on March 20, 2023. The rookie girl group's new title song, "Love Me Like This," combines street vibe bouncy rap with R&B style vocal harmonies.

With their latest release, "Mix Pop" became a hot topic anew as it showcases NMIXX's distinct sound. This time, the group broke the wall with a slightly more effortless, addictive melody.

The title song "O.O" and "DICE," their previous works, also drew attention with a more familiar mix of pop.

Meanwhile, "expérgo" became the "best-selling" album on the real-time record chart.

2. IVE

IVE, who had consecutive hits upon debut, will release their first full-length album in April 2023, marking the group's return to the music industry after 8 months.

From "ELEVEN," their debut song, to singles "LOVE DIVE," and "After LIKE," all three of IVE's singles were "mega hits," propelling them to the tiers of popular girl groups.

IVE, who has caused an impressive sensation on the music charts with every activity, sold over 2.7 million albums in just one year. As a result, there is a lot of excitement for IVE's full-length album, especially since the group won the "Rookie of the Year" award and the Grand Prize at the year-end awards ceremony last 2022.

Meanwhile, IVE will perform on "Music Bank in Paris" on April 8, 2023, before the release of their album. Moreover, IVE plans to take an overseas tour along with the promotion of their upcoming album.

3. Kep1er

On April 10, the same day IVE will release their album, Kep1er will release their 4th mini-album "LOVESTRUCK."

To entice their fans - Kep1ians - with their forthcoming comeback, the group released a poster through their SNS.

4. aespa

SM Entertainment confirmed last March 16 that aespa will return after 8 months of hiatus. The quartet will release a new album in May 2023.

Initially, the rookie group was about to return last February 2023. But due to the reported infighting within SM Entertainment, the girl group's return was delayed.

Also in February this year, aespa had their concert "SYNK: Hyper Line," wherein the group performed 10 of their unreleased tracks that fans expected to be included in their album.

Meanwhile, aespa members Karina and Winter are also part of the SM Entertainment sub-group "Girls on Top," with soloist BoA, Taeyeon, and Hyoyeon from Girls' Generation, and Seulgi and Wendy from Red Velvet.

5. LE SSERAFIM

LE SSERAFIM announced their forthcoming comeback in early May 2023. The "monster rookie" group, however, is yet to announce the release date of their new music.

Meanwhile, LE SSERAFIM's EP "ANTIFRAGILE," released in October 2022, surpassed 1 million sales a year after its release.
