BTS Jimin Becomes First Korean Soloist to Dominate Billboard Hot 100 With 'Like Crazy'

On April 3, Billboard unveiled their Hot 100 chart, which listed the top 10 artists who made it on the rankings with their music releases.

Billboard's Hot 100 ranks the most popular songs in the United States, the biggest music market in the world. On the list that's dated to April 8, Jimin's song "Like Crazy" has now debuted at No. 1, which marks the idol as the first-ever Korean soloist to reign the chart, and his first No. 1 knockout on his solo career.

From March 24 to 30, "Like Crazy" sold over a combined figure of 254,000 song downloads and CD singles, as well as collected 10 million streams, and 64,000 radio airplay audience impressions. This figure is now the highest number since Taylor Swift's "Anti-Hero," which was released in November 2022.

Prior to this feat, Jimin has already entered once on Hot 100 by solo, with his pre-release track "Set Me Free Pt. 2" having debuted at No. 30, as announced by Billboard on March 28. This makes "Like Crazy" his second solo entry on the chart.

"Like Crazy" also broke the highest-Korean soloist record previously held by PSY with "Gangnam Style" in 2012, which ranked at No. 2. This feat also makes him the first member of BTS to climb on the chart's top 20.

In the songwriting aspect, Jimin has also received his first No. 1 on Hot 100 as a writer, while RM, who's also known for his previous works, receives his fourth No, 1.

This is due to RM being credited as a writer for "My Universe," "Butter," and "Life Goes On," which all secured No. 1 spots on Billboard's Hot 100.

Apart from the Hot 100, "Like Crazy" also placed No. 1 on Billboard's Digital Song Sales chart, Top Album Sales chart, and World Digital Song Sales Chart. It also secured the No. 2 spot on both Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts. The song also placed No. 35 on Streaming Songs chart.

In other news, Jimin's solo debut album "FACE" has also entered the Billboard 200. On April 2, Billboard announced that Jimin has entered the chart for the first time, with the idol securing the No. 2 spot with first solo album "FACE."

This marks Jimin as the first Korean solo artist to do so, surpassing Olivia Rodrigo's "Sour," which took No. 1 in June 5, 2021. "FACE" claimed 164,000 equivalent album units during the week ending March 30.

This was followed by 124,000 traditional album sales, 13,500 streaming equivalent album (SEA) units, 19.51 million on-demand streams, and 26,500 equivalent album (TEA) units for its first week.

Congratulations to Jimin for this achievement!
