J-Hope of BTS is currently on his military service, but ARMYs are wondering about his updates and what he's currently up to right now.

BTS Sends Off J-Hope For His Mandatory Military Service

On April 18, J-Hope enlisted in the military, where he became an active-duty soldier in the 36th Infantry Division recruit training center in Wonju city, Gangwon Province.

At the center, J-hope received basic military training for five weeks before being transported to his designated station. J-Hope is the second member of BTS to enlist, following fellow bandmate and oldest member Jin, who started his duty on December 13, 2022.

Prior to his enlistment, J-Hope uploaded on his Instagram account, expressing his resolve to finish his duty and return in good health.

"I will come back healthy and well," J-Hope remarked.

Apart from his cheerful assurance, J-Hope also shared his brand new haircut, and a selfie with member Jimin. Throughout his service, J-Hope has been updating his family and fans with letters from the military.

On May 7, the "Chicken Noodle Soup" singer took his updates to The Camp, a website used by loved ones to receive updates from trainees. J-Hope shared a handwritten letter to commemorate Parents' Day, which is celebrated on May 8 in Korea.

J-Hope wrote, "Mom, dad, I'm greeting you on Parents' Day. I want to thank you for giving birth to and raising me. I love you both. Your son, Hoseok."

J-Hope Completes Basic Military Training After 5 Weeks

On May 24, J-Hope finally finished his basic military training, which he celebrated by attending its completion ceremony. The idol then uploaded on his Instagram story, sharing a photo of him wearing his uniform with a proud expression.

Furthermore, on Weverse, J-Hope shared additional photos and a message that warmed the hearts of ARMYs.

"ARMYs, I've now finished the basic military well! I was able to give my utmost best during training because of the letters and support you gave me," J-Hope said. "I will give it my all for the remaining period of my military service and show you my new sides. Cell phones are amazing."

How Is J-Hope Doing Now? Here's What We Know

On May 31, an update from a military official disclosed that J-Hope was reportedly appointed as 36th Infantry Division's assistant instructor.

Sources stated, "After having passed the educational qualification and evaluation in his time period, J-Hope will now serve as an assistant instructor."

J-Hope's agency BIGHIT MUSIC responded to the reports, claiming that the information is difficult to verify.

"Please take into consideration that the information is difficult to confirm," BIGHIT MUSIC commented. J-Hope is expected to complete his service and be discharged on October 17, 2024.
