BLINKs Support Cancellation of 'The Idol': 'They're just stains on Jennie's life'

"The Idol" became the center of discussion once again among BLINKs, who supported the program's cancellation due to declining ratings, poor feedback, and more.

Here's what they said.

BLINKs Support Early Cancellation of 'The Idol' Starring BLACKPINK Jennie

On June 26, a forum was opened online by BLINKs and netizens, who discussed the cancellation of HBO's new program "The Idol."

In the discussion, a user posted that according to international media outlets, the show will have to "end prematurely" after its fifth episode, contrary to its initial six-episode release.

The post also mentioned that ratings and favorable feedback are factors required to make way for a second season.

However, that wasn't the case for "The Idol," as the show continues to plummet with a 24 percent rating within critics and 58 percent with audiences, according to Rotten Tomatoes.

Earlier on June 16, HBO PR posted on their official Twitter account stating that rumors of a second season have been circulating online and clarified that such speculations aren't yet finalized.

Netizens and fans have voiced out their support for the show's cancellation. Some even wondered how such show was produced in the first place, while questioning everyone's participation on making it or starring in it.

Others also were puzzled on how 'The Idol' became an official entry at the 76th Cannes International Film Festival.

"This was just the worst show ever. The fact that they were planning for S2 is hopeless."

"I see, so they are ending the pre-production early."

"It's fascinating that they even had thoughts of doing a season 2."

"I was indeed looking forward to this before it started airing, but Euphoria was so popular and created a sensation, but who knew that this show would be this bad

"But Jennie barely had any scenes, and she was almost like an extra so what's up with the title? They're making it seem like she was the main or something."

"They're just stains on Jennie's life."

"How did they even go to Cannes with this? It's ridiculous."

Meanwhile, others criticized the script, soundtrack, and acting. Netizens also called out other fans who defend Jennie's performance in 'The Idol.'

"Show flopped, soundtrack flopped, The Weeknd lost his mind publicly. I'd call that a happy ending."

"All this show did was expose the cast as a bunch of airheads and misogynistic p**n addict freaks."

"Jennie's fans are really calling her "acting" oscar worthy which makes me laugh. Girly just looks nervous and RBF all the time like her usual self."

"The Weeknd trying to be a s** symbol or look tough was some of the most cringe television pieces I have ever seen."

"Honestly, I don't see a world where this show would have been a hit."

"Shi**y writing + inexperienced cast + taking yourselves too seriously are recipes for disaster."
