Plastic surgery has long been a contentious subject within the realm of K-pop, but artists are gradually shedding light on the industry's complex relationship with cosmetic procedures. In a recent revelation, former 2NE1 Sandara Park candidly shared how plastic surgery profoundly impacted her group before their debut.

Sandara Park consistently dazzles the audiences with her visuals, talent, and undeniable charisma, whether as part of the renowned 2NE1, through her solo endeavors, or during her appearances on popular variety shows.

On the 18th of July, Sandara made a guest appearance on JTBC's program, "Salty Dangpo," alongside fellow idols Chae Rina, Brown Eyed Girls Narsha, and ITZY Chaeryeong.

The episode delved into their personal experiences within the K-pop industry.

Predictably, as the idols engaged in discussions about their respective journeys in the intensely competitive world of K-pop, the conversation eventually veered towards the sensitive topic of plastic surgery.

While it is commonly considered "touchy" to broach this, it has remained a contentious issue amongst fans.

Narsha, a soloist who hails from a smaller entertainment company, admitted to having undergone plastic surgery, and even disclosed that her agency had pressured her to undergo the procedure a mere week prior to her scheduled appearance on a music show.

Narsha elaborated on her feelings of envy as she observed female artists from larger companies gracing the stage with their flawlessly beautiful appearances.

Given the sheer magnitude of YG Entertainment, it comes as no surprise that Sandara Park shed light on the company's obsession with image, proclaiming,

"We invested a lot in our music videos and outfits."

However, what astonished the viewers and fellow guests was Sandara's candid revelation about the plastic surgery the members of 2NE1 had undergone even before their official debut.

According to Sandara, the 2NE1 members had dedicated themselves to rigorous training in preparation for their highly-anticipated debut.

However, a month before their debut, they were unexpectedly instructed to visit a dermatologist, and it was during this visit that Sandara personally experienced her inaugural encounter with plastic surgery.

She recalled:

"We poured a lot into our training and such, but a month before our debut, we were suddenly told to visit a dermatologist. So, we went, and we ended up getting fillers."

While it is not uncommon for idols to undergo plastic surgery, the revelation that the 2NE1 members were required to do so prior to their debut exposes the somber reality of the industry.

Although the procedures may not have been extensive, they undoubtedly placed immense pressure on trainees and exemplified the unforgiving expectations regarding their physical appearance that idols would invariably face.
