WayV Disbanding? LABEL V's Building Demolished, WayZenNies Weigh In on Group's Future

Amid the plan of SM to end NCT expansion with its upcoming sub-unit, WayZenNies wonder if it's gonna be the end for WayV as well after fans found out that Label V's building is being demolished.

Label V's Building Demolished — Is WayV Disbanding? WayZenNies React to Group's Future

WayV, one of the sub-units of SM Entertainment's global-scale project NCT, sparked rumors of disbandment after fans pointed these hints out.

In particular, WayV is a unit based in China. Aside from SM, the group is being managed by its own label called Label V in China.

However, despite being created solely for the group to manage their activities in China, the label has a negative reputation among K-pop fans, especially NCTzens and WayZenNies, as they accuse the company of mismanagement and mistreatment of WayV.

Earlier in July, its parent company, SM Entertainment, announced the upcoming debut of its two new boy groups: one being the last sub-unit of NCT.

While some expressed rave reviews about it, WayZenNies conveyed their concerns and worries if the agency is planning to disband WayV after noticing these hints.

First, fans showed their curiosity about what was happening with Label V after the building suddenly took off the group's posters from the windows without replacing them.

Initially, fans were skeptical that it could mean WayV was preparing something, but this claim was eventually scrapped when a netizen shared that the building is now being torn down.

The second hint would be the decreasing activities of the group in China. Their last schedule was on July 8 at the Tencent Music Entertainment Awards 2023.

Lastly, their "Phantom" fan meeting tour oddly didn't have any mainland China dates, too.

As a result, WayZenNies expressed concerns about the group's future, raising disbandment rumors.

However, some also speculated that it could be that the group plans to transfer to another building or agency.

SM C&C To Handle WayV's Activities in China

Apparently, the second speculation could be true, as it was earlier announced that SM established its SM C&C in Beijing, which aims to handle its parent company's Chinese artists, including WayV.

This just means that Label V's dissolution has nothing to do with WayV's speculated disbandment.

Also, it is expected that under the new label, WayV will have more activities and schedules in the second half of 2023, starting with NCT's full comeback in August.

WayV is also in the middle of its preparation ahead of their second full-length album and tours in China.

Meanwhile, as mentioned, SM will release a new male group four years after WayV. It consists of multinational members, such as Sungchan and Shotaro, who were NCT members, Eunseok and Seunghwan from SM Rookies, while the rest of the members will be revealed later.

Regarding the new group, SM said:

"We will reveal the male rookie group on August 1. Please look forward to it."
