Starship Entertainment Reveals They Found Person Behind 'Sojang' + Official Statement

On July 25, Starship Entertainment revealed that they finally discovered the real identity of "Sojang," infamous for its YouTube channel, "Taldeok Camp."

In particular, in the past years, the channel has been notorious for spreading malicious false information about various K-pop idols. Since IVE's debut in 2021, the group, especially Jang Wonyoung, has been mostly the center of these malicious videos, until it was deleted after being hacked on June 23.

Due to the increasing number of negative articles surrounding the idol, DIVEs (fandom) and supporters of Jang held a truck protest in front of the Starship building. The fans demanded the protection of its artist's rights.

On July 21, the fan union stopped the protest after Starship attested them an official position regarding it.

On July 25 then, the company posted its statement on its official accounts and said:

"We will provide you updates regarding the agency's legal responses to the infringement of the rights of its artists.

We have been responding legally & strongly to malicious slander, dissemination of false information, personal aggression posts, defamation posts and malicious comments related to our artists that are being distributed online and on social media."

Starship then unveiled the level of punishment that haters received so far including 6 months in prison, being blacklisted on employment and being registered as sex offenders.

Just then, the label updated on the case of Sojang, stating:

"Since November 2022, we have been conducting civil and criminal lawsuits in Korea and overseas against the YouTube channel Sojang (Taldeok Camp) through the law firm LIWU Law Group (Lawyer Jung Kyung Seok as the one in charge)."

After six months in May 2023, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California issued a provision of information, and in July 2023, significant information about the owner of 'Sojang' was obtained from the U.S. Google Headquarters.

However, by the time Google was notified of the order Sojang was suddenly 'hacked' and all videos on the channel were deleted.

The account has been deleted afterward, followed by the posting of an apology."

At the time, Park Joo Ah, known as the owner of the "Taldeok Camp" channel, told Nate Pann their apology, saying:

"My channel was hacked this time. To be exact, my email was hacked. This has caused the channel to disappear and I have been able to rethink my crimes so far. The reason why I am posting this article is not to avoid complaints and compensation for damages from agencies and celebrities. I am confident of receiving a complaint."

As a result, Starship will proceed with its lawsuit against Sojang regardless of its initial apology, to compensate for how it seriously defamed its artists which interfered with their work.

Sojang will face all civil and criminal consequences for its illegal activities.

Starship also attested to fans:

"We operate a constant monitoring system to protect the rights of our celebrities, including their honor, privacy, and personality, and will continue to take all possible legal measures without agreement on artist defamation and additional damage cases."

Starship Entertainment Praised for Protecting Artists' Safety

Following the report, numerous K-pop fandoms including SM stans and ARMYs (BTS fandom) expressed their envy and praised Starship Entertainment for pursuing civil and criminal lawsuits against malicious commenters.

In the past, both artists from the "BIG4" SM and HYBE were also targeted by Sojang; however, only, Starship Entertainment was able to catch the real identity of the YouTuber.

"HYBE, what are you doing? How many years have we been filing complaints?"

"What do you think about when you see other agencies that fought for their singer who debuted less than 2 years ago? I'll look back on the decade. Anyway, thank you instead. Starship is truly an agency for idols who came into their possessions at a young age, their agency is their parents."

"May SM Entertainment work this hard, too."

"Other fandoms are envious."
