THIS soloist, who was a member of a legendary second-gen girl group, caught attention after only selling 300 albums even after six days has passed since her album was released.

Fans Saddened As Soyou's Album 'Summer Recipe' Sells Only 300 Copies in 6 Days

"Summer Queen" Soyou is back.

On July 26, the former SISTAR member-turned-soloist dropped her second mini-album, "Summer Recipe," along with its title track, "ALOHA" (feat. Bora).

Upon its release, the singer drew the attention of K-pop fans who had been waiting for her, and amassed over 310k YouTube views.

As of writing, Soyou's MV surpassed 1.1 million views in five days.

Soyou also proved her prowess as a soloist, entering the Top 100 and later on the Top 50 of Korean music charts, including Bugs and Genie, on the day her song was unveiled.

While this is a decent result despite her strong competitors (BTS Jungkook, NewJeans and more), K-pop fans were extremely surprised to see the status of her physical album sales.

On its day 1, Soyou only sold 226 albums and 300 in total six days after its release based on Hanteo. What made it more saddening was on the 5th day, Soyou only got 1 album purchase.

When these numbers went viral on social media, people questioned Soyou's fans, especially STAR1 (SISTAR fandom).

People were saddened and frustrated since Soyou is not a rookie idol. In fact, she's one of the K-pop icons from the second-gen, best known as a member of SISTAR and former mentor for Mnet's "Produce" series.

SISTAR Soyou as 'Summer Queen,' 'Queen of Collaboration Tracks'

Throughout Soyou's career, the singer has been loved for her refreshing yet comforting husky voice that is perfect for every season.

When she was still in SISTAR, Soyou became one of the "Summer Queens" thanks to their hit tracks, "Give It to Me," "SHAKE IT," "Touch My Body," Loving U," "So Cool" and "I Swear."

When the heat comes, expect that these songs resonate the streets and are rising into charts during their "heyday."

When Soyou pursued her solo career then, she proved that she was in it for the art and not the chart for having successful releases despite low album sales.
