EXO Wins 'Favorite Star' in 1st KTOPSTAR, Beating BLACKPINK & BTS in Group Category
In a poll, "Nation's Pick" EXO became the first-ever artist to win the "Favorite Star" in the group category of the 1st KTOPSTAR! The team proved their status in the K-pop scene, beating BLACKPINK and BTS.
EXO Becomes 1st Group to Win 'Favorite Star' in 'KTOPSTAR'
On August 14, the Korean media outlet MK Sports released the results of KTOPSTAR, a newly-launched star-ranking voting site that informs the current situation of K-POP.
KTOPSTAR is divided into four categories: solo, group, trot, and new star, and aims to conduct a popularity vote for "Favorite Star" in each area. The poll was held for four weeks and in this case, it was conducted from July 17 to August 14.

Singers ranked first to third will be given the privilege of congratulatory advertisements on outdoor advertisements in the Gangnam area, subway electronic boards, and large discount stores, such as E-Mart and Homeplus in each metropolitan city and province.
As a result, the global group EXO became the first "favorite star" (group) in the first KTOPSTAR with 32% of the votes.
The nonet beat BLACKPINK leisurely in the third week's voting results, maintained their No. 1 position for two consecutive weeks, and was selected as the final main character of the first group's "favorite star."
BTS
The "biggest girl group in the world" BLACKPINK then came in second place with 21% of the vote.
As for BTS, the global boy group had a narrow gap with the girl group but still ended in third.
Top-tier artists then entered the TOP 10, such as LE SSERAFIM (No. 4), NewJeans (No. 5), IVE (No. 6), Stray Kids (No. 7), Oh My Girl (No. 8), TWICE (No. 9) and aespa (No. 10).
Meanwhile, EXO released their seventh full-length album "EXIST" on July 10 and proved their unrelenting popularity and influence by becoming a "seven million seller" on the day of release.
The group surpassed 1.07 million copies based on the album sales tally site, Hanteo Chart, and re-affirmed EXO's strong power by recording 1,562,649 copies (first-week sales since its release).
In addition, EXO is continuing their "Career High" march once again by achieving their highest initial sales ever, following their personal record of 1.6 million pre-orders with this album.

On the other hand, Kang Daniel became the first solo favorite star. He topped the list for two consecutive weeks and ended with 74% of the vote.
Singer Younha came in second with 17 percent of the vote. Since then, BTS Jungkook has been honored with third place.
Lastly, in the new "favorite star" category, Mimiirose, a group that jumped to the top in the third week's vote, became the winner with 46% of the vote. Fantasy Boys came in second with 37% of the vote, and ZEROBASEONE (ZB1) came in third.
