On September 11, a poll was held on the community of the YouTube channel, "Shorts Box," which already amassed over 600M cumulative views after its launch in 2022.

On this day then, a survey under the theme, "Which is the one-top second-gen girl group?" was held which was participated by 256k fans and web users.

Here's Top 5 Best 2nd-Gen Girl Groups, According to 256k Netizens:

1. Girls' Generation

Known as the "Nation's Girl Group," SNSD was hailed as the No. 1 one-top girl group in second-gen K-pop with 82% of the votes.

Since their debut with "Into the New World," the nine-member group, hereinafter octet, continuous to create hits, such as "Gee," "The Boys," "Lion Heart," and "Forever 1," which was their latest song released in August 2022.

Throughout their career, Girls' Generation wrote numerous "first" records, became a girl group "textbook" and was also selected often by rookies as their role models.

2. Wonder Girls

Following SNSD, Wonder Girls followed in second place with 12% of the votes. Prior to their disbandment, the group left songs that remained iconic to date such as "Tell Me," "So Hot" and "Nobody."

They became well-known as a girl group who paved the way for K-pop to break the wall in the U.S. music market, becoming the first Korean team to enter the Billboard 100.

Wonder Girls is also a huge factor in JYP's title, "girl group master."

3. T-ARA

In 2009, T-ARA, just like their name briefly dominated as the "Queen of K-pop" after creating unforgettable hits, such as "Roly Poly," "Bo Peep Bo Peep," "TTL (Time To Love" "Cry Cry" and more.

Unfortunately, their reign didn't last long after they were embroiled in a huge bullying scandal involving former T-ARA Hwayoung.

Although their name was cleared later in 2017, their popularity didn't return to what it used to be, but they are still looked up to for their classic bops.

The group ranked third with 5% of the votes.

4. KARA

KARA ranked fourth place with 2% of the votes.

The group debuted in 2008, but they achieved their breakthrough after releasing "Lupin" in 2010. Since then, their fame has continued with hits such as "STEP," "Mamma Mia," and "Mr," and expanded their career in Japan.

After a long idol hiatus since 2016, they had a successful comeback with "MOVE AGAIN" in November 2022.

5. 2NE1

Although the group wasn't in the final result of the survey, netizens agreed that 2NE1 should definitely be in the top 5, or even higher.

During their heyday, 2NE1 served as the "K-pop Queen" with their hits, "FIRE," "I Don't Care," "I AM THE BEST," "Lonely," "Ugly" and more that contained their unique girl group concept.

At the time, they didn't only smash the Korean music chart but their popularity also spread around the world, especially in Asia.
