IU Reveals More Details Regarding Her Viral Kiss with Davika During Fashion Show

IU appeared on ELLE Korea's September 23 interview segment, where she engaged in a conversation with the magazine.

During the interview's first few seconds, the video opened up with IU talking about her encounter with Davika Hoorne during the 2024 Gucci Cruise Fashion Show on May 16.

At the event, IU went viral due to a clip showing her kissing Davika on the cheek. The soloist then detailed the full story with ELLE Korea, which titled the video, "Explaining IU's shocking (?) kiss issue (feat. Davika Hoorne)."

IU shared that Davika was seated right next to her, and she described the actress as an outgoing person. The singer then revealed that Davika disclosed that she has the same birthday as her, which kickstarted their bond.

Question: "I'm curious about the backstory of this GIF which got many Uaenas shocked and I'm jealous."

IU: "I heard this is the most liked question. To tell you the whole story on this day, Davika, who's next to me here, is a very outgoing person. She's the 'It' girl too, isn't she? She approached me first and said, 'You and I have the same birthday,' so we bonded with that."

IU: "It was also the same day as my birthday, so since Davika and I both had our birthdays, we greeted each other (happy birthday). Suddenly she's bringing her face like this and tilted slightly towards me."

The soloist shared she wasn't sure how to reciprocate Davika's gesture at first. Eventually, this led to her kissing Davika's cheek, to which the actress responded gladly!

IU: "I wasn't sure if she was going for a kiss because it was so dark and loud. I wasn't sure what kind of gesture I should do at that time. It's like I've seen this in a Western drama. So I thought, 'Should I kiss her?,' and I made that decision instantly."

IU: "If you look at that clip, my pupils were shaking. I went, 'Huh?' Do I have to give her a kiss?' (laughs). If that wasn't what she meant, I could've been rude if I misunderstood her. But Davika responded cheerfully. It was the first time for me as well (laughs)."

IU then concluded her explanation with how she established a meaningful connection with the actress at the end and joked that Uaenas shouldn't get jealous at all!

IU: "So from there, I got to form a special bond with Davika. Please don't be jealous."
