This nickname became exclusive to K-pop idols, that's why fans ask, "Who started the ending fairy?"

On October 15 then, this debate arose once again after an X account (formerly Twitter) made a viral post with the sarcastic caption, "THE STRAIGHT UP LIES."

The post featured screenshots of BTS's interview in June 2022, wherein J-Hope implied that an "ending fairy" didn't exist back then when asked what is their favorite "ending fairy pose."

Suga's comment sparked a heated debate when he said:

"No, it wasn't really a thing then. I still remember it's when we did 'Boy with Luv' (feat. Halsey) and 'Dionysus.' We kind of started it first. The 'Ending Fairy' pose became a thing. We did it for 'ON' too."

The post then exploded and reached various K-pop fandoms, sparking discussion that BTS is "delusional" and "liars" for claiming that they "started" the "ending fairy."

Among fans, Eris (EXO fans) and DIAMONDs (DIA fandom) particularly complained about this claim, stating that EXO Xiumin and DIA Chaeyeon were actually the idols behind the "Ending Fairy," not BTS.

In particular, EXO-Ls brought back how Xiumin started the nickname, "ending fairy." The term was coined after his viral confetti ending scene in Inkigayo in 2013 and his original nickname "fairy" among fans.

Later in 2016, IOI, who's now DIA Chaeyeon popularized the "ending fairy" trend after her viral solo shot in "Produce 101" when she performed SNSD's "Into the New World." Thus, the claim that BTS started it in 2019 was said to be a "lie."

Amid the debate, one ARMY took to BTS's defense and stated that the whole issue started due to mistranslation. The suspended account of the fans explained that BTS was only implying that the trend got bigger amid their promotion for"Boy with Luv" in 2019, which is the time they also started doing it.

The fan tried to clear out the misunderstanding that BTS said that they were actually the origin of it, but the one who popularized it.
