After retiring as K-pop stars, these 5 female idols chose to become BJs and shockingly, some of them are actually earning more than what they did before as singers!

After leaving the music scene, there are a lot of idols who chose to become vloggers or internet stars promoting mainly on YouTube and Instagram. However, the following female stars opted for a unique way of earning money, which is becoming BJs!

In particular, broadcast jockey (BJ) is a Korean term that started with ordinary Koreans filming themselves live while eating, which is popularly known now as "Mukbang."

Eventually, this was redefined after BJ channels such as AfreecaTV opened and some started to showcase other content such as singing, cosplaying, doing games and dancing while wearing sexy outfits (mostly for females) while talking and narrating.

Former GLAM Dahee

In 2012, Kim Dahee debuted as a member of Big Hit's first girl group, GLAM.

While the group was initially on the rise, they eventually met their downfall when she was sentenced to 1 year in prison and 2-year probation after attempting to blackmail and extort money from veteran actor Lee Byung Hun after recording their "dirty" conversation.

After the group disbanded, she started her career as a BJ under the stage name, "Kim Siwon. Wearing sexy outfits while performing like an idol, Siwon rose as one of the highest-paid BJs, earning 1.8 million USD this year alone.

She also achieved Afreeca BJ daesang (grand prize) for the past two consecutive years.

Crayon Pop Ellin

Along with Siwon, Ellin, the visuals and lead dancer of Crayon Pop also became a BJ amid the group's hiatus.

She was also listed as one of the highest-paid BJs, earning as much as 200 million USD in just five months.

In 2019, she was accused of scamming a man worth 800k USD, and although she initially denied it, Ellin later admitted and apologized for it.

She took a short break after the issue but returned in 2020 and is still doing her job.

Former DIA Somyi

In January last year, Somyi left DIA due to health reasons. However, fans and netizens think that the real reason she parted ways with the company was due to the second job she started while promoting the group, which is being a broadcast jockey.

Somyi, hereinafter Chomyi is currently a BJ under PandaTV which is notorious for its adult content.

Former LUX Hyunah

Kim Hyunah, a former L.U.X. member who became more known after joining Mnet's "Produce 48," is also working as a BJ.

She also joined AfreecaTV and became known for performing while wearing sexy outfits.

Former Stellar Minhee

In 2019, Minhee debuted as a BJ as well under the alias, UNDER MINI. Through her livestream, she would share her hardships as a K-pop idols. A lot of viewers love her so much that on her first day, she earned 10 million KRW (8300 USD) alone!

Shockingly, this amount she earned in just a day was Stellar members' whole salary during their seven-year activity as a group!
