aespa Karina Faces Backlash After Saying THIS About Other K-pop Groups — Is She Sniping?

Karina is being criticized online by netizens, who called her out for saying THIS about other K-pop groups in an interview with Rolling Stone.

Here's what happened.

aespa Karina Under Fire from K-Netz for Remark Involving Conflicts in K-pop Groups

On October 26, netizens established a post titled, "I wish Karina would think a bit more before speaking."

The author then uploaded a screenshot of an image featuring Karina's comment in aespa's interview with Rolling Stone. According to the images and Tweets uploaded by the OP, Karina addressed aespa's teamwork and how well they work together.

However, before addressing their team chemistry, Karina pointed out how other K-pop groups "fight a lot" and that many teams "don't work well together" with each other, angering netizens from an online community.

"Even though all four of us have different personalities, I think we come together well. We just get along well as people. Since we understand each other well without saying anything, and we work well together.

Honestly, if you look at other K-pop groups, people fight a lot and there are a lot of teams that don't work well together. But even from the beginning, we (aespa) didn't have those issues."

The author of the post followed a caption, stating that Karina should've just focused on aespa rather than making vague remarks about the dynamics of other K-pop idol groups.

"Karina could've just said that aespa can get along, so why did she uselessly mention other teams and put them down?

She also got criticized back then for saying how she had a lot of free time while implying other idols had lots of free time too. I wish she'd be more careful with her words."

The post quickly became viral, sparking the reactions of K-netz. Some netizens claimed that while fighting is common for a group, it's still unnecessary for Karina to comment on other teams' conflicts since she's not fully aware of what's happening behind the scenes.

Read their comments below:

  •  "She doesn't even know about other people's business, so why is she implying they're fighting?"
  •  "Who are the groups who don't get along then? She's talking like she knows everything."
  •  "If fans of other idols heard that, it'll be uncomfortable for them."
  •  "Fighting doesn't always mean it's bad. It just means that you don't agree on something, and you have to come to an agreement. She's sniping at other teams (at this point)."
  •  "Let's be careful next time, Jimin-ah."

Some international fans tackled the topic of K-pop's culture, where making vague comments are considered to do more harm than good, no matter how well-intended. One fan stated:

"I don't think this is a big deal, but I think we need to remember that we're working with a different culture here. In this culture, they probably don't appreciate 'vagueing' people in a way that's going to cause unnecessary speculation and accusations.

Every time an idol sets themselves as doing something 'above' than others, it usually comes out as blind jabs at groups who were minding their own business."
