TWICE Jihyo Opens Up Hardships in Fanmeeting, ONCEs Express Sympathies to Idol

On October 30, netizens made an online forum titled, "Jihyo said at a fanmeeting that she was having a hard time for the past 8 years."

In the discussion, the author recounted one of the highlights in TWICE's 8th anniversary fanmeeting "ONCE AGAIN," which was held on October 21 at the Olympic Hall, in Seoul. The OP mentioned leader Jihyo, who reportedly shared her hardships in the idol industry.

The OP stated:

"Jihyo said that she was so busy and that it felt like she didn't live like a human being anymore. Of course, this may seem like something extreme to say, but she also said that she doesn't regret those times at all. It breaks my heart.

In just a year, she released as many as eight albums, both in Korea in Japan. She even filmed music videos for the following year, and even filmed close to 10 music videos in one year.

While smiling, Jihyo even said there were times in the past when she wanted to give up after releasing albums non-stop during their showcase tour + Asia tour + arena tour, all in one year.

Jihyo also thought that TWICE's hit songs made her feel sad but not regretful since she knows how hard TWICE worked and that she's grateful for not giving up."

  •  "Of course, I think all idols who are in this line of work are having it hard. But if you look at TWICE's comebacks, they must be having it even harder."
  •  "I heard her say this in real time as I held back my tears. ONCEs all know how much she suffered all this time, but it's the first time she said it out loud."
  •  "She also said that JYP doesn't give you much time whenever they do a comeback. The moment the song is out, they only have two days to learn the choreo and they must shoot an MV immediately."

Meanwhile, some pointed out the harsh reality of idol life, which they described as full of schedules, non-stop promotions, expectations, and lack of breaks. One fan remarked:

  •  "I dreamt of becoming an idol, but when I saw there were no vacations and you had to work every single day, I realized that it's not an easy thing.

Obviously, the money is good if you have time to spend it and you can afford spending it, but if you're being called to work every day, you'll only end up not being able to do anything. At this point, the money isn't even the important thing anymore."
