J.Y. Park, who has been active since his debut in 1994, has a total of 626 songs registered to the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) so far. Regarding this, J.Y. Park boasted his most popular song.

"I created the logo song for KBS. It was the top song at the year-end settlement. It comes out several times a day. I did it at the request of the producer, and it was quickly released."

Mentioning this, Jo Se Ho also showed curiosity about the song he created that is earning the most royalties right now. The comedian asked:

"What is the number one copyright song you have so far?"

Hearing this, J.Y. Park chose two songs by TWICE and hinted how much he makes.

"The most recent are TWICE songs, 'What is Love?' and 'Feel Special.' (But ) the units are different.

In the past, Bang Sihyuk and I said this. I remember saying, 'In the United States, one hit song is worth billions of dollars.' It really happened."

TWICE's "What Is Love?" is the title track of the group's fifth mini-album with the same name. Although it was already popular among K-pop fans when it was initially released in 2018, the song experienced its second "heyday" after it became a viral dance challenge on TikTok in July 2021.

In January of the same year, TWICE's "Feel Special" also dominated the short-form video-sharing platform after a group of friends started a dance challenge trend.

How Rich is J.Y. Park in 2023? Here's His Net Worth

During the interview, Jo Se Ho mentioned that as the founder of JYP Entertainment and songwriter-producer J.Y. Park has an estimated net worth of 521.8 billion won (391.9 million USD), according to Forbes.

Aside from the revenue of the company, most of his income comes from his copyright royalties. This royalty income is received by a writer or composer from the reproduction or performance of their musical composition.

Although artists rarely talk about the exact amount of copyright fees that they get annually, it is hinted that there is a growing number of singers who receive enough copyright fees to live off of for the rest of their lives with just one hit song.

Some even stated that copyright fees can be collected even after the copyright holder dies and it can be claimed by their families.

Idols' popularity is not lifetime and their income could become unstable in the long run, but having copyright royalties can be a stable source of fixed income without doing anything in public.
