Jeonyul's Journey with Stellar, Group's 'Sexy Concept' Controversy & Disbandment

Jeonyul is a former member of the second-gen girl group Stellar and is currently a soloist under TSS Industry.

The group was comprised of Jeonyul, Lee Seul, JoA, Gayoung, Minhee, Hyoyeun, Soyoung, and Youngheun. Stellar debuted with their former agency The Entertainment Pascal, which was previously known as Top Class Entertainment.

On August 28, 2011, Jeonyul debuted with Stellar with the group's first-ever single "Rocket Girl." The group also followed up numerous singles such as "UFO," "Marionette," "Study," "Mask," "Fool," "Sting," "Archangels of the Sepiroth," "Crying," and "Vibrato."

While the girl group did well in their releases, they were known for having sexy concepts in their comebacks, to which many in the community deemed as controversial.

On February 25, 2018, Stellar held a fanmeeting in Seoul. The members present on the event were Minhee, Hyoeun, Soyoung, Yeongheun, Gayoung, and Jeonyul.

That day was an emotional one for both fandom Twinkles and Stellar, as the latter announced their decision not to renew their exclusive contracts, leading to their disbandment.

After disbanding, Jeonyul officially made her solo debut with "MAMACITA" in September 12, 2020. This was followed by her first EP "I Like It" in January 5, 2022, with "Like It" and "Dangerous" as title tracks.

She would later on appear in an episode of "Relay Olympics" on August 29. There, Jeonyul shared that in 2014, Stellar became controversial for the song "Marionette." This was because the comeback contained "overly sexualized" choreography and outfits that were too sexy.

Moreover, several suggestive scenes were included, such as drinking milk while it flows to their chests and taking off their shower gowns.

Jeonyul stated:

"At that time, I was really young and didn't know anything, so thinking that it was erotic was something I could never do."

On November 8, Jeonyul uploaded a new vlog in her official YouTube channel. In her newest content, Jeonyul shared that currently works a part-time job and that she's still willing to pursue her dream as a singer.

Question: "What has Youri been up to?"

Jeonyul: "It's the same. I still want to continue in the entertainment industry and keep challenging myself. To continue that challenge, I have to make money now, so I'm working part-time while challenging myself."
