DIA Eunchae vs Busters Ji Eun: Kim Sejeong Criticizes Idols for 'Lacking' Skills

On November 18, the first episode of the SBS survival audition program, "Universe Ticket" was aired.

On this day's broadcast, the first ranking announcement was held before the full-fledged battle. The ranking was decided by pre-voting through the pre-release of the profiles in July.

As the first battle was a one-on-one competition, the top-ranked contestants chose an opponent they thought could win among the lower-ranked contestants, raising the excitement of the audition program from the start.

Before the first episode, K-pop fans particularly showed high anticipation as K-pop idols including DIA Eunchae (hereinafter Kwon Chaewon) and Busters Jeon Ji Eun also joined as participants.

As both have experience in the industry, fans and even the judges thought that it would be as exciting as ever, only for them to sign in disappointment.

It was a bit embarrassing for fans as well since top-tier idols and celebrities including SNSD Hyoyeon, Younha, Kim Sejeong, ITZY Yeji & Chaeryeong, Rian and virtual artist ADORA witnessed Eunchae and Ji Eun's unstable pitch and lacking dance skills, contrary to their idol experiences.

Among the judges, Kim Sejeong wasn't able to stop herself and gave "harsh" yet insightful comments to the idols, saying:

"If I dare myself to say this, I don't think that skills are that important for girl groups to be honest. But even if you lack skills on stage, you can't be caught out. In order to hide them, you should put in your blood, sweat, and tears for an idol to make a perfect stage. Although you may be lacking, you have to complete it."

Sejeong continued to give her criticism of the idols.

"But the two of you, one is a current girl group member and the other is a female idol. I think that those titles seem very meaningless. Even if you are a member who is given 20-second lines to sing, your lacking skills shouldn't be seen during those 20 seconds.

I don't think that you were caught out because you sang for 82 seconds. Even if you were given 20 seconds only, I think the result will be the same. "

Lastly, the soloist said:

"I am quite disappointed. I think both of you should practice a lot."
