SNSD Taeyeon vs IU: Music Critic Shares Comparison Between Two 'Vocal Queens'
According to a music critic, here are the differences between IU and SNSD Taeyeon, the "Vocal Queens" of the current era.
What made them unique among singers?

On December 1, the media outlet E-Today unveiled the latest episode of web content, "Culture Poke," which featured the two current "Vocal Queens" SNSD Taeyeon and IU.
On this day, MUVE's founder and popular music critic Jung Min Jae, sat down to share a review of the vocal qualities, strengths and focus of the two singers.
Starting with Taeyeon, he emphasized the reason why the soloist represents the voice of the current era.
Regarding Taeyeon's characteristics as an artist, Jung said:
"Taeyeon doesn't write her own music. Of course, she did write some pieces and wrote a few lyrics but she's more focused on her skills as a vocalist and she's also a performer. But still, she feels like a TRUE ARTIST."
Explaining this, he added:
"Of course, you don't have to write songs to be an artist, but expressing a song well is what a singer does. When I talk about this topic, I always mention Whitney Houston. She didn't write her own songs but she was a phenomenal singer. She was recognized by an entire generation and she became one of the greatest singers."
Comparing Taeyeon to Whitney's impact, he concluded:
"I think Taeyeon is the voice of our generation. So a few decades later, when someone asks whose voice represents this generation, people will mention Taeyeon. If you think about it like that, she knows how to choose the right songs for her voice. She's great at choosing her songs. She's skilled at creating her unique discography. She's also building her career really well."
IU vs SNSD Taeyeon's Comparison
As the interview continued, Jung Min Jae also responded to questions asking to differentiate IU and Taeyeon, the two stars considered the top female soloists.
In light of this, Jung Min Jae conveyed:
"The biggest difference is their ability to write songs. Iu is a singer-songwriter. She writes her stories and makes the music she wants to do. That's her main focus.
But Taeyeon is great at expressing herself through music. They are very different in that aspect."
In addition to this, Jung also emphasized IU and Taeyeon's different tones and genres.
"IU has a distinctive tone. IU's strength is in her unique and distinctive color. Taeyeon is more like a blank canvas. She can pull off everything. Sometimes her voice sounds very clean but sometimes she sounds really glamorous."
He also discussed their different music paths, IU pursued folk-based songs, while Taeyeon focused on pop.
As he concluded the comparison, the music critic praised them and said:
"Both of them continuously create amazing songs and hold unmatched positions in the industry but in actuality, they are in completely different areas."
