Police's Response to GD's Unfair Investigation Infuriates VIPs: 'This is violation of human rights'

Amid VIPs' protests against the media and police for the "unfair" investigation of G-Dragon over illegal drug use, the fandom was infuriated even more when police chief gave an explanation for these complaints.

In October, K-pop icon and BIGBANG leader G-Dragon was booked by the police without detention on charges of taking illegal drugs. The idol consistently appealed for his innocence and voluntarily visited the police for questioning and a simple drug test.

He then tested negative during his reagent test, as well as three other succeeding exams for his urine, hair dye, finger, and toenail.

Despite this, the police continued focusing on investigating the main witness and six other people, until the investigative agency gave a final verdict of "not guilty."

They also decided not to send the case within the next week after failing to look for concrete evidence and reliable witnesses.

Police Denies 'Unreasonable' Investigation of G-Dragon Over Illegal Drug Use

Following the "not guilty" result, strong public criticism from VIPs and K-Netz targeted the police for unfair investigation of GD.

The K-Media wasn't able to dodge fans' anger for prematurely publicizing the case even before formal charges had been made.

However, the police who investigated GD's case clearly refuted it being an "unreasonable" investigation.

At a press conference held on December 14, the Incheon National Police Agency Chief Kim Hee Joong explained:

"There was a very specific tip on G-Dragon's alleged illegal drug use. We investigated based on the (witness) report, but we found no crime."

He continued to defend the police over said unfair investigation, saying:

"It would be even more strange if we received a specific tip but we didn't conduct any investigation."

Lastly, the commissioner pointed out that they were just doing their police duty to reveal that there was actually no charge.

VIPs Demand Police & Media to Admit Mistake and Apologize to G-Dragon

Following Chief Kim's response, VIPs couldn't help but convey their anger after receiving no remorse from the police.

The icon's supporters continued to voice out that this was clearly a violation of human rights, which caused GD to receive huge damage although he was proven innocent.

Fans started by implying how GD became the target of hateful comments after the media publicized the case without formal charges, and how the police continued to investigate without concrete support to the accusation.

Fans pointed out that they can't overlook it as even if G-Dragon was an ordinary person who was falsely accused, this would cause him to lose his job, psychological trauma, and worst-case scenario, ruin his whole life.

As of the moment, the fandom continues to call out the police and media through social media platforms and online communities.
