TXT Yeonjun's 'Guilty' Cover Draws Mixed Reactions for THIS Reason — What Happened?

Yeonjun's "Guilty" cover stage at the GDA 2024 has been receiving mixed reactions from K-pop stans and K-netz for this reason.

Here's what happened.

TXT Yeonjun 'Owns' Taemin's 'Guilty'? Here's Why K-pop Stans Are Mad

On January 8, a post titled, "The reason I hate Yeonjun's 'Guilty' cover," was established and gathered by netizens.

In the post, the author claimed how many fans were acting like as if Yeonjun "owned" the song, evident through the #Yeonty hashtags across social media.

Meanwhile, the author also followed up an image showing a Polybius code, which according to OP, was a part of TXT's "Eternity" promotion.

According to the figures in the background, the code seemed to make up the words "G-U-I-L-T-Y." OP shared a tweet from TXT's official X (Twitter) account, displaying the #Yeonty hashtag. Read the full claims here:

"The fans are saying stuff like, 'Taemin-ah, please give Yeonjun 'Guilty' and bulls**t like that. Those people are otakus, so of course they can talk like that, but they're even posting #YeonTy on the official accounts.

No matter how good the cover is, they're acting as if 'Guilty' was in fact Yeonjun's song and it's so annoying."

"Taemin debuted as a soloist 10 years ago, and now, he's been shooting to his career high with this album. He even participated so much in this, and that shows how dedicated he is in making it. Meanwhile, he's being f**king robbed.

It's not like the song was released three years ago, but three months ago. It's not like Taemin isn't performing it, it's because he can't. The people are being boastful about Taemin being satisfied with Yeonjun's cover."

Translation: "Guys, this is part of 'Eternity' concept photo (promotion). If you decipher Choi Yeonjun's post numbers using the Polybius code,

22 = G

45 = U

24 = I

31 = L

44 = T

54 = Y

'Guilty'

There's no way Choi Yeonjun doesn't cover 'Guilty'"

"Maybe this was intentional. They Yeonjun in the 943 MV and Guilty Yeonjun are continuous."

#Yeonty #Guilty

In the comments section, K-netz agreed with the post, saying how annoying it was for some people to act like "Guilty" was a "Yeonjun song." International fans also expressed their irritation and threaded through the bad "beef" between MOAs and Shawols.

Read their comments below:

  •  "I thought this was going to be a forced hate and some overreactions, but after I read the post, I understand why people are pissed."
  •  "This was basically Choi Yeonjun's solo, and they even gave him back dancers. It was f*cking overdone."
  •  "Guilty is indeed a popular song, but people who don't know about it will definitely think that this was a Yeonjun song."
  •  "Usual cover stages aren't done this way right? HYBE didn't even bother tagging #Taemin on it, they're f**king thugs. This is why I hate HYBE."
  •  "Honestly trying to link Taemin's worldview into Yeonjun's is crossing the line."
