On January 14, former K-pop idol Kyla Massie, popularly known as a PRISTIN member, became a hot topic after updating her fans about her life. The video, which has over 1.3 million views now, uncovered her current life and also her plans outside the music scene.

After PRISTIN left Pledis Entertainment, most members re-debuted as HINAPIA, while some decided to become actresses and models. But for Kyla, she chose to go back to her home country, the U.S., to finish her school.

In the middle of the pandemic in 2020, Kyla, however, didn't forget yet her passion for songwriting and music, then released her solo debut EP, "Watch Me Glow."

After graduating from high school, the former idol decided to attend her community college instead of a university.

She explained that it would be much more cost-efficient since the first two years will be carried for free, considering that the pandemic forced people to quarantined and students to learn virtually.

In this college, she joined various research projects including one that focuses on medicinal plants.

Kyla continued:

"Sophomore year of college, I did volunteering at Kaiser Permanente a year, where I was a care partner in the NICU.

Then I got accepted into this summer undergraduate to research fellowship at Cincinnati Children's Hospital where I went and did research on immune responses and different organs in mouse models, based on intermittent hypoxia conditions."

Through this research, Kyla became a published author after her work became available last summer.

Where Is Former PRISTIN Kyla Now? Idol To Pursue Medical School

Initially, Kyla was pursuing psychology, but then she transferred to the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) to pursue biological anthropology.

Under her new university, Kyla is working part-time as a teaching assistant, sharing her love for research and bio anthro.

In fact, she will also take her Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) this year and if she gets in, she's decided to pursue medical school.

On top of her academic achievements, Kyla also updated on her current relationship status. Initially, she was embroiled in a dating rumor with SEVENTEEN Vernon, which she immediately denied.

But now, she's happy and far from any hateful comments from fans, narrating:

"I also started dating my wonderful boyfriend back in 2020, and we've been together for almost three years now."
