Soyeon Becomes (G)I-DLE's Executive Producer

On February 1, K-pop icon Rain released a new episode of his web entertainment show, "Season B Season," featuring "4th-gen representative producer" and (G)I-DLE leader, Soyeon.

The two stars, who share love and passion for music production, talked about various topics in the field.

During the conversation, Soyeon brought up the story on where she had to make a PowerPoint presentation when briefing for the group's comeback. At the time, she thought she had to do the PT presentation to convey her ideas.

Just then, she brought a good news and stated:

"Since the song 'TOMBOY,' I've become the executive director of the team. Recently, we got our own team. [Free pass without the need for PT]. We make a lot of decisions through meetings with me and various staff."

(G)I-DLE has established itself as a popular and respectable group with the hits, "HANN," "Senorita," "Uh-Oh," "LION," "Oh my god," and "DUMDi DUMDi."

On social media, fans blamed her for the low interest in their latest title track, "Super Lady," released on January 29, compared to their past releases. They implied that this had something to do with her being the group's new executive director.

However, Nevies were quick to jump to Soyeon's defense, explaining that she was still the person behind their past hits, but the difference would be she now has the final say in marketing and legal aspects.

Hearing the news, others even urged (G)I-DLE to just leave Cube Entertainment and create their own agency.

In fact, in the same broadcast, she confessed that in the future, she wants to produce idols and Rain showed support by declaring to finance her entirely while letting her do all the production work.

But some strongly disagreed, stating that (G)I-DLE receives creative freedom and perks from Cube that even the "Big 4" labels can't fully provide - all the more reason the group should stick with their current agency for a win-win case.
