Despite its purpose to initiate excitement in the K-pop community, fans and netizens were distressed instead upon noticing the typographical error made in the post. Netters pointed out that the title of the post was "Hang US," which truly meant "Hang with us."

The caption "Hang US" shocked international fans who were English speakers, as the phrase gave connotations to self-harm. After netizens shed light on the matter, the outcry eventually reached RBW Entertainment, causing the post to be deleted.

Netizens called out RBW for the misunderstanding, as well as criticized the agency for lacking fluent English speakers, and reminded them that ONEUS also has an international following.

Not long after the incident, RBW released a brief statement on the platform, stating that the fan club post would soon be re-uploaded.

"[NOTICE]

Hello. This is RBW.

Regarding the case of ONEUS's official fan club 'TOMOON 4th Coming Soon' image uploaded today on the 21st (Thursday), it will be re-uploaded after editing to minimize any misunderstandings related to the official name. We ask for your understanding.

Thank you."

Fans somewhat praised RBW for responding quickly to solve the problem and suggested the company hire staff who are fluent in the English language to avoid similar mistakes.

  • "Honestly, honestly, you need fluent English speakers in that basement. So much extra work when it should have been fixed at the developing stage."
  • "My friends, please hire someone who knows English to proofread. But that's for realizing it wasn't the best name."
  • "Yeah, that was scary, to be honest."
  • "I had no problem with it, but I understand it could be uncomfortable to others. Thank you for taking the time and changing it!"
  • "Wow, that was so fast/ You guys are working so late. Thanks for the quick change."
  • "The wording was a bit uncomfortable for me and I'm glad you were able to hear us out. Thank you!"
  • "Thank you for your swift response. We do ask you to have a fluent English speaker on your team to avoid similar problems in the future, for your idol groups."

The agency has now posted a new announcement without the error.
