Xbox One News: Microsoft Changes Used Games And Online Authentication Policies

Fresh Xbox One news was reported that the users of upcoming Xbox One can now sell or lend their old disc-based games as well as play offline games without internet connection.

Xbox One news emerged last Wednesday when Microsoft Corp stated that users of their next-generation gaming console will be able to play games already without accessing internet connection. Furthermore, Reuters reported that the owners of Xbox One can already lend or sell their used disc-based games.

This recent Xbox One news is in contrary to the initial position of Xbox One with regards to its online connection and used-games policy. Before this Xbox One news, Microsoft announced last month when it unveiled the game console that players would need to have an internet connection at least every 24 hours for authentication. Also, used games could be played on the Xbox One but it will require a fee first, which will be determined by the respective publishers of the game. This Xbox One news elicited much dismay and apprehension from a lot of gamers.

Because of the negative reactions from the fans, Microsoft decided to reverse its earlier stand regarding the policies they initially made. PC Mag reported that Microsoft will also anymore require any limitations on using and sharing games. Don Mattrick, the president of Interactive Entertainment Business of Microsoft said, "it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360. After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360."

A lot of Xbox One news was unveiled during the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 2013 that was held in Los Angeles. One of these is that the Xbox One's price tag at $499, which is a hundred-dollar more expensive than its rival console, the Sony PlayStation 4. Sony was applauded at the E3 2013 for not having any second-hand games issues and internet requirement connection.
