BABYMONSTER To Win Rookie of the Year Again THIS 2024? Here's What K-Netz Think

Earlier on January 11, BABYMONSTER's initial debut song "BATTER UP" won the award for Rookie of the Year (Global Streaming) at the 13th Circle Chart Music Awards (2023 CCMAs).

When BABYMONSTER dropped the pre-debut digital single "BATTER UP" on November 27, 2023, the group at that time only composed of six members namely Ruka, Asa, Pharita, Rami, Rora, and Chiquita, since member Ahyeon went through an indefinite hiatus due to health concerns.

However, BABYMONSTER experienced a re-debut on April 1, when the group released their first mini album "BABYMONS7ER" and title track "SHEESH."

The re-debut also had fans thrilled to their core, since Ahyeon was officially included in BABYMOSNTER's lineup, activities, production, music video filming, and other group-related schedules.

"BABYMONS7ER" immediately saw success after it was released since the album led BABYMONSTER to break the highest record of first-week album sales in Hanteo.

The MV for "SHEESH" also reached a speedy milestone of 100 million views in just 10 days and 11 hours. Furthermore, BABYMONSTER is also consistent in their engagement with fans on social media, fan meetings, and various content online.

With BABYMONSTER's rising momentum, this eventually started a discussion on April 15. The forum titled, 'I Wonder If Baemon Will Win The Rookie Award This Year?" pulled netizens, who discussed the group's probability of winning the trophy.

"They changed their official debut to this year, but they already won the Rookie Award last year, so it just got weird," OP captioned.

Netizens drew mixed opinions on BABYMONSTER's performance in the first quarter of 2024 and mentioned that the septet has serious competition with HYBE's new girl group ILLIT.

  •  "They already debuted last year and received an award openly so if they start going like "actually, this year was our debut~" then you could even win the Rookie Award 10 years into your career."
  •  "But isn't ILLIT gonna win?"
  •  "Last year they received it but their results were bad so they said that this was their real debut. It makes me wonder why they did that."
  •  "ILLIT will win. I like Baemon and would like them to win but their results are disappointing."
  •  "They said that this year was their official debut.
  •  "If they debuted last year, they would've at least won the female Rookie Award but now that now that ILLIT is doing so well, they are in an ambiguous spot.
  •  "Batter Up was released last November so they would still be considered in the lineup for the Rookie of the Year this year so who cares?"
  •  "Anyways, they debuted at the end of last year so it wouldn't be weird if they were included this year. No need to worry."
