In an interview, Red Velvet Joy revealed the story behind her under-eye & lip piercings, one of her most daring transformations that contradicted her pure and innocent image.

On April 19, the official YouTube channel of Allure Korea released a new video starring Red Velvet Joy.

In the clip, the star together with the lifestyle magazine then dished on her daring fashion attempts, skincare routine and did a "What's in My Bag?"

Red Velvet Joy Talks About Radical Image Change With Lip Piercings During 'Chill Kill' Promotion

Recently, the K-pop idol graced the digital edition of Allure Korea May issue and during the pictorial, she sat down for a short interview regarding the topics of fashion and beauty care.

Wearing a green gown during the interview, Joy expressed gratitude to the staff, saying:

"I felt good because the staff members called me princess. I liked all the concepts we shot today."

While on the topic of concepts, Allure Korea then brought back the time Joy attempted a radical change in her image by getting eye and lip piercings.

In December 2023, the female idol shocked K-pop enthusiasts after she flaunted her piercings. It was because it was completely different from her trademark image of having vibrant and clean visuals.

Regarding this, Joy then shared the reason she decided to get piercings, narrating:

"I'm actually scared of piercings because I'm a very timid person. Other than the two on my earlobes, I don't have any. But when I filmed the music video for 'Chill Kill,' my makeup artist suggested that I get piercings."

Joy then conveyed her feelings and thoughts at the time, adding:

"Piercings make me have that languid and decadent look for no reason. I developed that kind of attitude and thought, 'I’m doing this for the fun of it,' but I don’t plan on getting piercings or tattoos in the future anymore because it's painful.”

In the same interview, the "Hello" singer was also asked about the secret to maintaining skin just like what she had 10 years ago.

Joy then answered:

"10 years ago, I didn't take care of it at all. Now I'm working hard. I try to drink water, don't eat processed foods, and eat a lot of vegetables and fruits." Since I have dry skin, moisture is really important, so I only use products containing hyaluronic acid.”

In addition to this, she also shared her scent preference these days, sharing:

"Just as clothes change with the seasons, my taste for perfume also changes with the seasons. Now that it's spring, I'm drawn to citrus colors."

Joy’s unique perfume usage method is to spray the perfume all over the body, starting from the top of the head and finally spraying it on the ends of the hair.

The star revealed a tip that if you spray perfume on your hair, it will smell good when it moves or the hair blows in the wind.
