Jo Kwon Exposes JY Park's Biased Treatment Towards 2AM VS 2PM & Wonder Girls

In a recent episode of MBC's "Radio Star," Jo Kwon, a member of the K-pop group 2AM, made headlines by candidly exposing the disparity in treatment within JYP Entertainment.

His revelations shed light on the stark differences in how label head J.Y. Park treated 2AM compared to their labelmates, 2PM and Wonder Girls.

The Concept of Deprivation: J.Y. Park's Unconventional Approach

During the interview, Jo Kwon reminisced about the early days of 2AM's debut, highlighting how J.Y. Park enforced an unusual concept of deprivation to align with their song's theme.

He disclosed how the group was confined to a cramped dormitory with minimal amenities, including a peculiar wake-up call courtesy of a nearby chili powder miller.

Jo Kwon further elaborated on the financial constraints imposed on 2AM, particularly in terms of food expenses.

Despite the apparent financial stability of JYP Entertainment, Jo Kwon revealed that the group was allotted a meager budget, restricting their ability to indulge in basic comforts like regular meals.

"Every crew has its own set spending limit on the company credit card for meals, right? Ours? Well, we could only indulge in Korean barbecue once a month. It was absurd."

Perhaps the most revealing aspect of Jo Kwon's interview was the comparative treatment between 2AM and other groups under JYP Entertainment.

While 2AM endured the hardships of deprivation, Jo Kwon highlighted how labelmates 2PM and Wonder Girls enjoyed a significantly more comfortable lifestyle, residing in spacious apartments with individual rooms.

When host Kim Gu-ra expressed astonishment, questioning, "But at that time, JYP Entertainment wasn't facing financial issues. So, did J.Y. Park deliberately set that limit? Just to maintain the image of not being able to splurge on your loved ones?"

Jo Kwon replied, "Exactly. It was all for that image. Both 2PM and Wonder Girls were living in luxurious apartments with their own rooms."
