K-Netz Speculate 'Hidden Messages' About HYBE & Ador Behind NewJeans Track 'ETA'

Amid the intensifying conflict between ADOR and HYBE, K-Netz re-examined NewJeans's song, "ETA," speculating that it contains hidden messages related to the labels' current situation.

What Is the Meaning of 'ETA'? NewJeans Song Sparks Discussion For Its 'Hidden Messages'

Recently, HYBE was embroiled in an issue over being connected to a pseudo-religion. It was suspected that artists under the label even released songs consisting of Dahn World's beliefs, making music fans revisit previous releases of groups including BTS, NewJeans, TXT, GFriend and more.

Amid re-examination, netizens raised more suspicions when an OP discovered alleged "hidden messages" behind NewJeans' "ETA."

In particular, the song pre-chorus says:

"The day you couldn't come to my birthday party// The day Hyejin got in so much trouble//The day Jiwon broke up with his girlfriend// He always spent those days without you// What's your ETA."

Breaking down this verse, the first line "the day you couldn't come to my birthday party' allegedly depicts how only Chairman Bang Si Hyuk didn't come to congratulate NewJeans when they debuted.

The mentioned name, "Hyejin" is actually suspected to refer to ADOR's CEO Min Hee Jin who was always scolded.

The name "Jiwon" then stands for HYBE's CEO Park Jiwon, and the line, "broke up with my girlfriend" refers to the disbandment of Source Music's girl group, GFriend.

Meanwhile, the "he" in the line "spend those days without you" is the representation of Bang Si Hyuk and lastly, "What's your ETA?" is asking HYBE when will he keep his promise.

Reason Fans Think NewJeans 'ETA' Aims to Snipe on HYBE

In particular, fans strengthened this allegation, noting that rapper Beenzino was the one who wrote the lyrics for "ETA," who has a history of dissing Bang Si Hyuk in the past.

In The Quiett’s “Hallelujah" featuring Beenzino, he wrote:

"When I was still underground, a producer came to me and said// If I work with him, everything will work out// The last thing he said was the punch line// He told me I could join him if I will shave my chin (cosmetic surgery)// I don't need your bullet proof// I refused to be your boy."

At the time in 2017, Bang PD faced accusations that he tried to recruit Beenzino to join BTS, but he would have to undergo chin reduction.

Amid these speculations, HYBE said that they are investigating and will file a lawsuit against malicious posts directed at their artists.
