Jim Carrey Gun Control Advocate Quits 'Kick-Ass 2': [Video] Comic Creator Mark Millar Calls Actor 'Unpredictable'

After comedian and notable gun control advocate Jim Carrey announced via Twitter on Sunday that he is quitting his role in "Kick-Ass 2" due to on-screen violence, comic creator and executive producer of the movie Mark Millar went to his blog to call the actor "unpredictable."

Millar admitted that he was very surprised when hearing the recent news because Carrey seemed so gun ho about it back when the first movie was released.

"He had lunch with Matthew around the time of the first movie and dug it so much he appeared that night on Conan O'Brien DRESSED as Kick-Ass, singing a duet with Conan dressed as Superman," wrote Millar.

According to comic creator, the "Ace Ventura" actor was also stoked about his role as bat-wielding Colonel Stars and Stripes, a born-again Christian who doesn't use guns and has a masked ball munching dog as a sidekick.

"Ironically, Jim's character in 'Kick-Ass 2' is a Born-Again Christian and the big deal we made of the fact that he refuses to fire a gun is something he told us attracted him to the role in the first place," Millar wrote.

Furthermore, Millar suggests that Carrey new all then ends and outs of the movie's screenplay over a year ago. He is wondering why the impulsive change of heart.

“I respect both [Carrey's] politics and his opinion, but I’m baffled by this sudden announcement as nothing seen in this picture wasn’t in the screenplay eighteen months ago."

Although Jim's recent random nature may stunt "Kick-Ass 2," Millar said the actors fickle personality is one of the reasons why they picked him for the part.

"Carrey is an actor like no other, an unpredictable force of nature who brings a layered warmth and humanity to his work as well as that unstoppable energy he's always been renowned for."

Here is what it looks like when Jim Carrey condemns his own movie on Twitter:

This isn't the first time Carrey spoke out against gun violence. In March his country westerned anti-gun themed musical parody "Cold Dead Hand" for the Funny or Die website recieved a lot of criticism. When conservative media outlet Fox News fired shots, the actor retailiated by calling them "media colostomy bag that has begun to burst at the seam."

Millar hope Carrey reconsiders his decision.
