Versace is a fashion house with a lot of history, so there is a lot of material for a TV movie. Gianni Versace's designs had lots of bondage influence and were very slinky and cut to the body. Versace was murdered in his prime. After the tragedy, Donatella stepped forward to continue the fashion house empire.
Lifetime scored big names to work in the House of Versace movie. Gina Gershon has starred in Showgirls, and Raquel Welch is famous for her role in One Million Years B.C. and the deer skin bikini she wore in that movie became an iconic poster.

The original TV movie House of Versace is scripted by Rama Stagner and directed by Sara Sugarman. It is based on the book "House of Versace: The Untold Story of Genius, Murder, and Survival" by Deborah Ball. House of Versace focuses on Donatella Versace struggling under the scrutiny of being head designer at her brother's company following his murder. House of Versace will tackle drug addiction and the fashion house's failing fortunes. House of Versace also looks at her time in rehab and subsequent renewed sense of purpose, which enabled her to build the brand into the lucrative and respected empire it is today.
"House of Versace" will premiere Saturday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime. It will be followed at 10 p.m. ET with a new documentary called "Versace: Beyond the Headlines," taking viewers inside Gianni Versace's fashion house from its humble beginnings to its worldwide success. The documentary will include interviews with relatives, designers and those who investigated his murder in 1997.
