VIXX, Boys Republic Become Ambassadors For Charity Campaign 'Eye Camp Expedition'

They may still be new to the Korean music scene, but boy groups VIXX and Boys Republic are using their popularity to make a difference in the world.

The members of the two pop groups have been named the honorary ambassadors for 'Eye Camp Expedition,' a Vietnamese charity campaign to help people who are visually impaired.

According to a press release from Universal Music Korea on Monday, the two groups were selected to participate in the SBS MTV and Standard Chartered charity event as part of the World Bank's social welfare program 'Seeing is Believing.'

"We haven't had the opportunity to repay all the love from our fans all around the world. With this opportunity, we will do our best to give love and care to the people around us who are in need," read a statement from the VIXX members.

Eye Camp Expedition will involve providing needy patients with eyesight recovery surgeries, building homes and storage tanks for drinking water, as well as other various charitable activities around Vietnam.

Both VIXX and Boys Republic will be joining a group of about 50 university students volunteering in the southeast Asian country this November.

Their work and charitable efforts will be documented through a reality program that will air on SBS MTV.
