50 Shades Of Grey Obsession Allegations Make Guantanamo Bay 9/11 Prisoners Fight Back

After claims were made that Guantanamo Bay inmates charged for 9/11 are demanding "50 Shades Of Grey" erotica, their defense lawyers are having their back.

On Wednesday, attorney James Connell blamed Guantanamo Bay guards for giving his client Ammar al- Baluchi a contraband copy of E.L. James' explicit book. The lawyer believes the alleged act was suppose to be a joke or form of defamation.

The implication that the prisoners had a love for the "50 Shades Of Grey" book started when U.S. congressman Jim Moran said the prison's officials told him it was their detainee's favorite read after a trip to Guantanamo's Camp Seven.

According to Connell, Baluchi never heard of the book until they met on Monday to discuss and article about Moran's statement. That night, the book was presented to his client by a guard. He said the accused handed the book over to him unread.

"He says, 'No thank you.' He does not want the book," said Connell, reported USA Today. "It's in my safe and as soon as I am able I will return it to Joint Task Force Guantanamo."

Al-Baluchi is a nephew of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the Guantanamo prisoner who has portrayed himself as the mastermind of the plot.

Lawyer James Harrington, who represents Ramzi bin al Shibh, another charged for 9/11, also has anxiety about guards plotting with the book.

"I don't know where it's coming from," Harrington said. "It's something that clearly was planted with this congressman who comes back to Washington and makes a big deal about it, all of which is designed to paint a picture of our clients and the other detainees here which is just not accurate."

Allegedly these prisoners, according to Moran, have a desire to consume their remaining days in confinement indulged in the dominating/submissive relationship of author E.L. James' fictional characters Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.

"Rather than the Koran, the book that is requested most by the (Camp 7 captives) is 'Fifty Shades of Grey.' They've read the entire series," Moran said, reported The Huffington Post and later verified by Reuters who directly contacted the Republican congressman's representative.

This comes as a shocker since in the past, Guantanamo librarians have been known to examine the content of reading material for sexual nature. They have gone as far as blocking images of overly alluring women in advertisement ads of sports magazines.

It remains a mystery how the book passed the screening since it didn't have a mail stamp required for any material sent to prisoners from the outside, or label from the detainee library.
