A very mysterious countdown timer has appeared on rookie boy group BTS's official website.

The large red numbers are counting down to midnight on August 29 (EST), but there is no explanation as to what will happen at that time.

Additionally, the counter is over top some faint Chinese characters spelling out the group's full name, Bangtan Boys.

This intriguing tactic was used by the group previously when their site bore a similar timer counting down to their official debut earlier this year.

Many are speculating that a new BTS track is not far off and that perhaps the new song will be in Mandarin.

Other guesses include the announcement of a China concert tour or a Chinese-language version of their previous track "No More Dream."

According to the group's official Facebook page, on August 12 the rookies filmed their new music video - on the two-month anniversary since their debut - so a very likely scenario is that the ticker is counting down to its official release.
