The launch of Minecraft PS4 version was also announced during the press conference held by Sony at Gamescom 2013. Since Minecraft PS4 version's release date will coincide with launching of the next-generation gaming console which is expected to arrive on November 15.
Minecraft PS4 will be available only as a digital download on the PlayStation Store for the PS4 console. Though the price for Minecraft PS4 version is not yet specified, it may be similar to the price tag of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, which is $19.99. The game was made available on the Xbox Live Marketplace last year.
Minecraft PS4 version will be published by Mojang, the same company that created and published the original iteration of the game for PC. It was noted on the Examiner's report that Sony announced before that independent developers will be able to publish their titles on the PlayStation Vita, PS3, as well as the forthcoming console, the PS4. Apparently, Mojang took advantage of this new development from Sony.
"Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition," alongside the forthcoming "Minecraft: Xbox One Edition"are both published by Microsoft Game Studios.
Aside from the Minecraft PS4 version, coming at launch date, the game was already confirmed for other Sony game consoles such as the PS3 and the PlayStation Vita.
Mojang is already set to host the 3rd-all things Minecraft event, the Minecon 2013, which is set to happen on November 2-3 at Orange County Convention Center.
