Japan Open Figure Skating 2013 Results [VIDEOS]: Mao Asada Triumphs, Ashley Wagner Debuts Program, And Javier Fernandez Bests Daisuke Takahashi And Takahiko Kozuka

The Japan Open Figure Skating 2013 event has come and gone, and we've seen the debut of many potential Olympic programs, including from Ashley Wagner, Mao Asada, Javier Fernandez, Daisuke Takahashi, and Takahiko Kozuka.

For those who do not know, Japan Open is an annual figure skating team event for single skaters in both the male and female divisions. Figure skaters perform the free program (but not the short), and individuals results from each continent are combined to the final team standing.

This year, Team North America, Team Europe, and Team Japan battled it out, and one skater who rose to the occasion was Mao Asada.

Despite two-footing her trademark triple axel, Mao Asada achieved a personal-best free program score of 135.16!

Her closest competitors were reigning Olympic bronze medalist Joannie Rochette and reigning U.S. national champion Ashley Wagner. Rochette scored 123.99 (foreshadowing her comeback, perhaps?), while Wagner scored 119.77 to her new program.

On the men's side, Javier Fernandez dominated the field with 176.91. His closest competitor was Takahiko Kozuka at 158.32.

Sadly, fan-favorite and Olympic bronze medalist Daisuke Takahashi struggled in the technical content and scored 149.12.
