Seo In-Young Asks, Can You "Love Me"?

So as you all know, Seo In Young has made her return and is quickly getting attention. She returned for the second time this year with her hit song "Love Me" which is a jazzy dance-pop that features Dynamic Duo's member Gaeko. Gaeko is featured as the ostensible deadbeat of the music which has been conspicuously absent from performances as well as music videos. Fortunately, the star has gain some light since the songs release because viewers are liking the duo.

Seo In-Young's previous song "Let's Break Up" was a mournful, country and blues-tinged, acoustic guitar ballad style of music. The star has changed this by "Love Me" being a more stylish, dynamic, as well as peppy which still exhibits a beautiful restraint. This is clearly a representation of Seo In-Young's maturity as well as strong sense of self.

"Love Me" for both the music video as well as song is a harmonious marriage of a gorgeous visual concept and beautifully produced tune that is accessible, timely, as well as innovative at the same time; which is truly pop music at its best. The music is gold while the video is an urban hipster reverie style by Seo In-Young looking very beautiful. Seo's song "Love Me" has being winning so far by having lots viewers for her music video.

The song is an elegantly taut, minimalist dance-pop track with a coolness that is impossibly descended from the 70's jazz-funk to the early 80's post-disco and then to their offspring which is the 90's acid jazz.

The music opens with Seo In-Young's chant like, whispery, spoken vocals which then leads to the beat. The drum machine percussion drops and then shape-shifts as well as morphs from electro-pop to disco all throughout the music video. Along with the base, funk rhythmic guitar, unassuming strings that spirals the soundscape, and synth accents occurs in the music video. Then there is the Gaeko with a cool flow that enters at the halfway point and seamlessly fits itself into the fabric of the song. Finally in the end of the song, the song ends where it all started which is Seo's softly spoken vocals over the Rhodes piano.

Vocal performances is fantastic in this song by being warm, smooth, and sweet like honey. Though she can change it by allowing the dreamy, jazz melody to make it shine. The Gaeko's verses still carry his signature attitude but scales back the aggression and embraces the coolness of the song. The star's input, coupled with spot on production, jazzy funkiness, as well as understated sophistication, makes this song soar to the sky.

Behind the Music Video:

The music video is very colorful that catches the people's eyes which really cements Seo In-Young's status as a stylish icon which represents the growing importance of fashion in the performance art aspect of K-Pop. The video shows fashion as well as beauty shots and the vignette shows scene throughout scene of her walking the streets like some sort of hipster amidst a backdrop of urban landscapes.

Lighting of the music video gives a slightly ethereal quality which verges on the ridiculous and probably offensive because it seems to glamorize as well as trivialize homelessness and urban decay.

Fashion and Style Looks:

Throughout the music video, Seo In-Young works through a million of looks in just three and a half minutes which becomes somewhat of a female analog of G-Dragon for his music video for "Crooked." Seo goes from boho-chic to "Like a Prayer"- era Madonna, to rock ability punk, to skater punk, to glam punk, and anime schoolgirl. So many wardrobe changes in this music video.

For the glam rock look, Seo pushes a shopping cart down the street wearing thigh-high black boots, short shorts, a scarf tied around her head, and a fur coat with a bright, yellow, white, and black zig-zag pattern that resembles Charlie Brown's shirt.

On the rock ability punk style, Seo plays with legos by wearing a black, A-line skirt, black mock turtleneck, and boots that are really huge which really could make other punk rock singers jealous. Seo In-Young graffitis a wall with torn jean shorts, a t-shirt, and her hair peaking from under a knit cap.

Camera Focus:

Scenes like these are done with beautiful close-ups which gives great face close-ups. Her frosty, platinum blond locks accentuate her skin tone as well as features. Smoky eye makeup gives her peepers a gleam while the red lipstick plays up her mouth's every movement. Truly with all the makeup on her, she has never looked as well as sounded better!!

Review:

Though the song "Love Me" probably expresses the uncertainty of a woman's future as she tries to win back the love she lost. The song is a success by being a sophisticated dance-pop sound which is Seo In-Young's best song to date!! The song is a five out of five and the music video is 4.75 out of 5. Great job Seo In-Young for writing a fantastic song!!
