Tech fans may not have to wait for 2014 to experience a new kind of gadget from Google currently dubbed as the Nexus Gem. Reportedly, Nexus Gem release date could happen by October 31, coinciding with the launch of upcoming devices like the Nexus 5 smartphone and the Nexus 10 2 tablet. Meanwhile, citing 9to5Google, as posted on Huffington Post, speculations about Nexus Gem release date are saying that the wearable device, which is designed to feature Google Now, is already in its last stages of testing.

The Nexus Gem smartwatch would work in a more focused and limited ways, compared to the existing wearable devices from other tech giants, such as Galaxy Gear from Samsung and Smartwatch 2 from Sony. Accordingly, instead of being able to make calls or take pictures, Nexus Gem's features will highly center on display notifications, providing Google Now updates and other relevant information like the weather. Furthermore, compared to other smartwatches already on the market, Nexus Gem will focus less on fitness and health monitoring.
